Background 01

Inuyama, the Dog Clan’s capital. It’s based on Shirakawa go. For now I’m just getting familiar with the shapes before I can tailor it for me needs. =)

So I finally finished all the Dog taishu and the Rat taishu, too. Dog taishu was more important because they will show up fairly early in the story probably (though I may have to rethink the order). the Rat taishu will have role later only.

A little update on what I am doing... I had about a week without net, I've been tired and sleepy, and just very very busy. Didn't get much done. These pictures are fast ones I'm doing on metro and in short minutes of work-breaks. I'm back on finishing the commissions and also to finish the sketches of the comic I started, it must be done by the end of the month so I can start to ink it in November.

1.) Tatsu Enkou in drunk fuzzy (probably when Tatsu was 17, she was 21, and it was to celebrate one of the successful battle against the emperor, and the fruitful collaboration of the Dragon and the Monkey Clan. XD Sometimes I REALLY wanna do their story, how they met, and how they grew fond of eachother after the first aversion, haha. I probably will eventually. But I want to start it with the actual official comic.

2.) Minako's father and mother. Her father is one of teh Dog Taishu (governor) of the 8. He stands for Faith amongst the virtues. More about it later. ^^

3.) The 8 Dog Taishu, protectors of the 8 virtue. (It was inspired by Okami, haha. But I read after it and it was a novel called Hakkenden in the 18th century, and the 8 virtue is actually the 8 Confucian ones. But translating it is a bit tricky for I checked the original Confucians in Chinese, the Hakkenden one and also compared it to the Okami version... and I decided to have my own, little altered one. XP) Still struggling with 2 of the characters there and I need them soon in the story.. Well I'll will figure by the time I get there, still have time until that point. ^^

4.) Shiran Kyoudai (special dog squed) leader talking to Kikka.

I didn't do them, I'll refine them later and make my own version, it is just a draft I need so I can put it on my Age of Phoenix blog (it's private, sorry).

Since I didn't have any time for myself in the weekend I decided to compensate myself this evening and finished the inking, HAH!

...And I'm really tempted to leave this without text. I wonder how much it makes sense though. I guess I sleep on it. (and I can't believe I'm sleepy already, whyyyyy)

Anyway, the small one is baby Kikka. There is also Houmura the family guard dog, mommy Sasagi, daddy Tadao and a random villiger guy.

The 1st two is about the harness for dog units in the Dog Clan. How to tie is the 1st thing the trainees have to learn when they start to work with the dogs. There are many types though.

The restare dog studies. For now I concentrate on the akita because that is the main breed for the Dog but my next target is kishu, the base for the hainu.

It's the first panel of a comic page I started to work on (FINALLY!!!) Baby Kikka gets introduced to the family dog, Houmura.

Dog people, YEY Ichirou is Kikka's oldest brother, Kintarou is the 2nd oldest, Kikka is the youngest boy. Well they have an older sister and a younger. By the begining of the story only Kikka and the sisters are alive. Kikka's brother had a deep impact on their little bro in their childhood. Some good and some bad. Their strenght was always sth that Kikka admired but also felt intimidated by it. Ichirou's indifference and Kintarou's bossying, bullying didn't help a lot (he is a good guy just a little agressive ^^' ) The other young boy is Hayate, their nephew, he is a bit like Kintarou, hot-headed and quick in action, but he is far not as agressive as him. He also looks up at Kikka since he was the "admirable adult in charge" for most of his time he can remember. Well you'll see i the story, i shut up now.

Anyway, I was busy with coming up with a simple but characteristic enough outfit for the Dog Squad (Hinagiku Kyouday) and the special dog squad, the Shiran Kyoudai. I realise these outfits are not kickass-looking at all. But Dog people is really not like that. They are bit.. "boring" in a sense, nothing flashy or outstanding in their look. But they are really strong and surpris the ones who underestimate them, HAH!
