Free day
AN: I haven’t read a Yona of the Dawn au yet, so here’s my take! One fiery redhead for another!
“Can you feel anything? Are we getting closer?” Shirayuki asked, for about the twentieth time that afternoon. She knew Zen was getting tired of it but they couldn’t be this close to the Blue Dragon and still somehow let them escape after all their efforts, wasting two weeks of exhaustive traveling.
Zen closed his eyes, holding out his hand towards the sun setting behind the treeline. His skin shimmered where the last rays hit the scales running up his arm, while his white hair shone like a beacon in the fading light. It was clear in the frown that flickered across his face that the Blue Dragon had managed to give them the slip again.
“They’ve moved again, haven’t they?” Shirayuki sighed, wondering if this was harder than catching smoke or if it was just the same. Her body felt so heavy after climbing the mountainous forests for days, pulled first in one direction and then another. While it was another added burden for Zen to be the one who had to fight to keep any kind of sign of their quarry, he seemed almost more driven than she to keep going. She could only hope the Blue Dragon would be as kind as he was, she could still remember how harsh her escape from the palace had been, nothing to her name save the prophecy and promise of what she needed to find. Or rather, who.
“I could have sworn we were closer, but since last time, it’s like they’ve vanished.” Zen curled his clawed hand into a fist in frustration. She’d seen the logs he could destroy in seconds, but this wasn’t a problem he could attack head on and that strain of attempting something he had no solid grasp of was taking its toll.
