Lets play a game of find everything wrong with this picture.
First, the universal points:
- They all look exactly the same. They have the same faces, same bodies, and practically the same hair. Yes, I know they can't all be special snowflakes because the more molds means the more money poured into working on the dolls but you couldn't have two or three different faces?? They all look like Bratz, and it's terrible. At least they kind of have noses?
- They're all wearing the same thing. Like, all of them. They're all either wearing a strapless top or a tank top with a thigh-length skirt and boots. Aren't they supposed to be in high school? I'm pretty sure this would not fit the dress code of any school, ever. It would be nice for high school-aged characters to wear something similar to what a high school girl would wear, like a tee shirt and jeans. I mean, what's the point of making them individual dolls if they're just bad deviant art recolors? Their clothes look like someone took a look at a few cosplay lolita pictures and MS Paint bucket-filled line art.
- There is absolutely no variation in body either. No, there doesn't need to be a doll for every single possible range of human body, but how about a single doll where the head isn't twice the width of the waist? Goes again toward the need to make a doll for girls that actually, you know, looks like at least semi-human.
- The cosmetics are abysmal. I hate the cheek cutie mark thing. Why not on the hand, the shoulders, or just on the design of the clothing? The cheek CM makes them look like face tats they got from a stretch in Attica. And, you know, it's possible to have defined facial features without bright lipstick and caked eye liner.
- Can we talk about how long/high up on their heads that their ears appear to be?
- None of them have on stockings, tights, or even high socks. None of them. Hope there isn't a strong wind, ever. Also hope they like sweaty, stingy calves.
Now for the individuals:
Rarity:
- Her hair is a disaster. Gone are here curly locks and coif and in is her televangelist hon' mess. It just looks bad.
- Perhaps I can forgive her for the strapless top being the fashionista she is, but I cannot forgive her clashing purples when it comes to the boots and skirt. Nor for the lack of accessories. Rarity knows how to accessorize.
- Also, are those boots high heels? Please no. High heeled boots are not for school halls, they are for red carpets. Her feet would be swollen and bleeding by the end of the day in those things.
Fluttershy:
- Fluttershy's hair is actually less of a wreck, but still not great. Needs more taper.
- Her outfit is horrible though!! Fluttershy is characterized as, you know, shy. I doubt she would be spouting with loud patterns and wearing nothing but a tank top and short skirt. At least put a tee on the girl, she looks like she's freezing.
- Those boots are bad. They clash with her purple top and leaves on her skirt. Why not just make the top the same baby pink (and the skirt design) and at least bring the ensemble together? Is there any lavender even on her design? Her butterflies were pink and blue IIRC. Were there not enough "feminine" colors on her already?
- I really hope those aren't high heeled boots again.
- Fluttershy's thing is being out in nature with animals. That means kneeling in dirt and looking into burrows, which does not mean a short skirt and light boots. Even if she's just working with domestic animals, that is not a good outfit.
- Correction: I think her skirt is purple butterflies? I still hate it.
Rainbow Dash:
- Definitely one of the worst. Everything is bad.
- Her hair has red and yellow. Make a rainbow those do not. Plus gone is her spiky-tipped mop and in is this side-swept mane? No. She needs bangs.
- She still has wings, which I will assume means she can fly. Then why the skirt? Everyone will be able to see right up to her panties/spanx/whatever. I don't think even RD is confident enough to let that slide.
- What even are those shoes? Are they those weird knee-high chucks? They look like lacing boots, which is a no.
- Dash is an athlete. That's her whole thing. This is not the attire of an athlete. Her thighs will chafe (or would, if she had the legs of a real runner), her skirt will blow up, and those boots will leave her feet so mangled that she can't walk, much less work out. Everything is terrible.
Twilight Sparkle:
- Hair is just bad. Way too poofy, and it doesn't even look like she has her pink stripes/highlights in there?? Why. Why change that. You can obviously do it. At least she has bangs.
- The outfit is a no. The Princess's most loyal student does not seem professional in her plaid skirt and tank top with a bow stapled to the front. Twilight is a wonderful student and I doubt she would be attending class anywhere that allows this kind of dress as the norm.
- Seriously what is with the white and blue plaid? Why not nicer stars, or just plain pleats? Why plAID?? WHY NOT ARGYLE GOD

Pinkie Pie:
- Her hair is okay? But why the headband? Pinkie's hair cannot be contained. There is no force strong enough.
- What is with her color scheme? The white and the blue just looks bad on her. Why not...anything else? What is with her sleeveless top with the strange bust? That seems way too formal for her. This should be Rarity's.
- Her skirt and shirt match perfectly but then hey decide to mix it up with those...high top laced sneaker boot things? You either need to totally match or be totally random, the latter of which fits Pinkie. Mixing the matchiness makes it look like a bad design, which it is.
- Why does her boot lacing start like mid-shin? Why?
Applejack:
- NO.
- EVERYTHING IS WRONG AND IT'S TERRIBLE
- OKAY, FOR STARTERS, APPLEJACK'S HAT? NO LONGER A COOL AND FUNCTIONAL COWBOY HAT, BUT A TWENTIE'S FLAPPER CAP MIXED WITH A FEDORA WITH A BOW SLAPPED ON TOP???? NO
- HER PONYTAIL, THE CORNERSTONE OF HER DESIGN, IS GONE FOR THESE GARISH PIGTAILS NO
- STRAPLESS CORSET BODICE SO HER SHOULDERS CAN GET BLAZED BY THE SUN WHILE WORKING ON THE FARM
- SKIRT SO IT CAN GET SNAGGED ON BRUSH AND TORN BY BRIERS AND BRANCHES
- BARE LEGS SO SHE CAN GET BITTEN BY TICKS AND MOSQUITOES AND RIPPED TO SHREDS BY SAW GRASS
- ALSO ITS A JEAN SKIRT THAT IS A SIN
- HIGH
- HEELED
- BOOTS
- ?????
- SHE IS A FARMER NOT A TOWN GIRL GET IN SOME OVERALLS AND DO WORK
For clarification, I am not a brony. I am not part of the fandom. I used to like and draw ponies, then fell out when the entire thing went under and everything went bad. But as a character designer and as someone who still like the actual ponies themselves, I could not stay quiet for this. This is bad and everyone who had a hand in these should feel bad.
