Anyway, about Lilith. I'm not a huge fan of MC being Lilith's descendent but that could be because of Lesson 16 in general (and there are A LOT of things I could say about that whole mess). Lilith is one of those convenient plot devices that pops up when needed and kind of fades into the background to be forgotten about again. She's just kind of there.

When it comes to exploring Celestial Realm/angel lore and her role in Lucifer & Co's fall, things get more interesting. Mostly because when I think of Lilith, my first thought is something like, "She knew the rules and broke them, what did she think was going to happen?!"

Mostly, Lilith is a great example of how flawed the Celestial Realm is and how unforgiving Father is, and angels appear to be the worst sort of hypocrites when they can't even follow their own laws. I don't completely blame Lilith for what she did, even if her actions were very self-serving and short-sighted. I think she was motivated by genuine love and affection which I can understand and relate to and I admire that. Part of me thinks (hopes) that she did it knowing she was breaking a very important rule, but maybe she hoped that there would be room for leniency (I think she would've accepted a milder punishment willingly).

Maybe her demise could've been prevented if the Celestial Realm were a more forgiving place. I think it ultimately comes down to Father's rigid rules and what appears to be a lack of compassion or flexibility for angels that struggle to follow them. It says a lot about the way the Celestial Realm functions that Father would rather destroy an angel for defying him than allow Michael and the other Seraphs to find an alternative outcome.

I don't really write about her character very much. The closest thing is probably the wip Azra x Meta story, but she's only mentioned a few times (before and after they fall). She's the catalyst for the Celestial War, and that has a huge impact on the Devildom - it's hard not to mention it. After Lucifer falls, he and Azra have a very tense conversation about how they both ended up in the same place for the same reason, but in their new home they still have trouble finding common ground.

Fallen angels with a breeding kink.

Angels aren't usually capable of reproducing, so the angels that like to get a little frisky can do so without consequence. It's something done for pleasure, a harmless bit of fun. But angels that are stripped of their titles and cast down to the Devildom, they learn quickly that everything's changed. Their bodies, their morals slowly chipped away in a bid for survival. The meaning of sex and intimacy changes too.

For fallen angels that weren't capable of creating life before, now they have that possibility. It's power, new and potent, a way of marking someone as their own, in a way no one else ever will if they have any say about it. It's possessive, almost animalistic passion, the overwhelming urge to claim someone as theirs, to be bound to them forever, in a way that wasn't possible before. Some of them might be enticed by the idea of offspring, some of them might not be. It doesn't matter - it's the defiant act itself, the freedom to choose that path if they want to that matters. It's a choice they never had, but now it resonates deep within them, satisfying some of the most primitive and instinctive urges of their newfound sin.

(And if they get a little petty satisfaction knowing how furious it must make Father to realize this truth, that they can still find new ways to defy him where they're no longer touched by his punishments, maybe they keep that to themselves.)

Karasu locks himself in his office with a fresh pot of coffee and mutes his D.D.D. to preemptively ignore the influx of messages he’s sure to get thanks to the social media team’s latest nonsensical post. He’s still annoyed he’s not allowed to fire any of them, as upper management reminds him with frustrating regularity these days.

(Also, he’s secretly hoping no one asks about the last time he actually went on a real date. It’s been years.)
