Confluence work - Introducing some Snippets of a new lineage, the Gen! lil goblin facts - there are very few Goblins above ground. It’s colder, very bright and very loud. There are also those who consider Goblins, though clever and mechanically minded, as lesser. The few that have made it above ground have either to work harder in this environment, or adapt, as goblins nature compels them. This has lead to goblins buying magical glamours to make them more palatable to the elven and human populations, as well as physical changes such as wigs, contact lenses and having their tusks worn down. Goblins who change this way get much better jobs in the cities and are tolerated better than those who do not. (shales new liason with the university, Strata, actually loves how she looks with her glamour, she thinks she looks more elvish and arn’t the golden ones so beautiful?? Shale, not wanting to hurt her tentative relationship with one of the few Goblins aboveground, only nods queasily).
- goblin ears are culturally sacred. In the dark, they’re essential, to listen out for traps, potential cave ins and even ore within the rock itself, for certain clans. To touch another’s ears, without being within the individuals clan is an insult and an invitation for a fight. Within the Great underground, any who do so are greatly reprimanded. Ears are highly decorated with scarring tattoos and jewellery, each conveying certain landmarks in the individuals life, age, clan and deeds accomplished. Though Goblins are not particularly fashion orientated, scarves are high sought after, especially those with fire resistance, to protect their ears during working periods. For a Goblin to allow someone outside of their clan to touch their ears is a sign of trust and friendship. - During the hundred year war between elves and Goblins, when the elves invaded the Great Underground, because of the engraved and beautiful jewellery the goblins wore, the elves often took the ears of the dead as trophies. This was blasphemy and horrified those who recovered the bodies. Some Goblins decided to use this new information and began carrying and wearing charms, pretty things to catch the elven eye, made from ore that would react upon being in contact with an inherent being. Upon being collected by the elven invaders, the charm would explode and decimate the collector and any who surrounded them. Goblins still make these charms, keep them in their homes. Just in case.
