i wish i lived in Wuxia World so i could cough up blood and pass out and perhaps fully blow up and leave a smoking crater in the ground when my emotions get too strong. but instead i have to stand there real quiet and try not to cry in public. like a chump
Tiny update:
Not much change where I am except the smoke from all the fires have started to merge and spread so I’ve started smelling it even 30 miles away
My close friends whose houses were in danger found out their houses are safe, which is amazing. Some other acquaintances I’m less close with lost their homes, which is awful
We’re not allowed back in the area at the moment to keep streets clear for first responders, so I’ll wait this weekend and we’ll see. I’m dreading the work it’ll take to clear out the smoke smell but I guess it’s still welcome work

It's not a phase!
Games the Leverage crew is not allowed to play and why
- Clue, because Nate always figures out who's who immediately
- Poker, because everyone but Hardison has an incrediblely good poker face
- Operation, because Parker always puts the pieces back in when no one's looking
- Pictionary, because Sophie can neither draw nor act out helpful hints
- Hungry Hungry Hippos, because Eliot accidentally broke their last board set in a fit of extreme passion
- Chess, because Nate always wins
- Checkers, because Hardison always wins
- Guess Who, because Nate always gets it after one question and Sophie likes to add complex backstory to what ever character she is
- Battleship, because not even Nate can figure out where Eliot hides his ships
- Monopoly

I have evacuated to my parents’ house because in addition to constantly thinking my house was on fire from smelling smoke
Ash started to rain from the sky
And my poor dog can’t wear a mask but has to pee outside
So now we’re here and I’m hoping everything will be okay in a few days but here’s the view of the fire 😕
The good: air quality has improved!
The bad: because we’re having a wind event, like 100mph gusts for a whole day
The ugly: which could lead to wildfires as it hasn’t rained in more than 6 months damn
Two wildfires so far, a very fast moving awful one near Malibu, and one much closer to me in the foothills
I'm not anywhere near the path of the fire but it breaks my heart to see some of my favorite spaces destroyed, and hopefully everyone who had to evacuate has a home to return to
All of my windows keep rattling and it's keeping me on edge. I doubt anything will actually break through but still. My neighbor lost his awning (it crashed into my yard) and our building's pool is now full of patio furniture
Dog actually does not care about the sound of the creaking walls or roaring wind, BUT every time branches and leaves slam into the door he thinks there's someone outside and alert barks, and it's getting to be A LOT
It's supposed to calm down a bit by tomorrow morning so we just have to make it until then
We are in the “everything smells like smoke” part now, and my cute little room air purifiers can’t keep up. Might need to evacuate after all if I want to breathe
