this is such a good post aaaaa thank you for writing it all out, everyone should read this (okay maybe not everyone but you know) i am not sure about all of adrien’s lies being deliberate, though. certainly, he is always capable of being honest, but lying is so automatic and habitual to him that he rarely actually makes the decision to lie - he only makes a decision when not to.

adrien’s good at lying because he’s been doing it to himself for a long, long time, and yourself is the hardest person to fool. and anything you do that long becomes a habit and - as you laid out - comfortable. at this point, it takes more conscious effort to be honest than to lie.

YES! You’re absolutely right, calling his lies “deliberate”, overall, is a tad too much: In the moment I didn’t quite know how to better explain it, but the way you did it here is perfect. Thank you for making this note, and thank you for listening to me rant about this the other day and offering, as ever, precious insight.
