i didnt expect this to get any notes so either everyone just really likes adachi or i havent reached a major plot point yet

yep. that about sums it up. that’s about it. that is our relationship. that is how we two fine gentleman came to know each other. that is the thread that ties us together. i could’ve just said, “i’m your uncle dojima,” but i needed you to know exactly how we are related. in case you didn’t know. in case your parents just put you on a train and you said, “who will i stay with when i get there?” and they just winked and said, “you’ll find out when you get there,” now you know. you know who i am and what i’m all about. it’s me, your mother’s younger brother. in other words, your uncle. how’s it going.

>2:42AM, you awaken to the sound of multiple consecutive text notifications. They’re from Yosuke. You open your inbox. “r u up? im freaking out” “plz reply im sorry its so l8” “i need 2 see u rn can i come over” “plz plz plz resopnd” >You rub your eyes and reply, telling him to text back when he’s at the door. >You close your eyes, dozing off. You lurch at the sound of the text tone you’d forgotten about half an hour later. You quietly sneak downstairs to meet Yosuke. >Yosuke stands on your doorstep, disheveled and still in his pajamas. His bike lays discarded in your driveway. He looks up at you with wide, reddened eyes, his face bearing an expression full of shock, terror, and relief. >You silently nod for him to come in, wondering what happened as you lead him up to your room. >As you close the door, you feel arms wrap around your torso. Yosuke’s hands grasp at your shirt, his face nuzzled in the crook of your neck. Warm tears trickle down his cheeks, soaking into the fabric. You feel his breath on your neck as he quietly sobs. >A few minutes later, you hear Yosuke whisper, “I had a nightmare where you died… it was my fault… it felt so real…” >You turn around and gently pull him into an embrace, feeling reminiscent of the time you spent with him at the riverbed. But this time, Yosuke was mourning… you. >You spend a long time with Yosuke.

excuse my cheesy mediocre writing ahah! someone pls stop me from thinking about souji dying and how yosuke would react and I was inspired by this amazing comic although it’s so old but it wrecked me honestly

I feel like every Persona 4 fan has their own thoughts about Souji’s shadow, and while I have a couple of different theories and opinions on the matter, my personal favorite is that Souji does, in fact, have a shadow, but it refuses to manifest.  

A lot of shadow!souji’s are condescending and snide - frustrated with Souji’s friends for their dependance on him even as it despairs of losing them - but I prefer the idea that Souji, at his core, refuses to be an imposition.

He doesn’t open up to his friends or burden them with his problems, because he is too scared of appearing troublesome or problematic.   He is afraid that the team will give him up as a bad investment.  

So, Souji’s shadow never appears, because it refuses to bother the Investigation Team.  Because of this, Souji has never gotten the chance to accept it.  

Hell, Souji’s shadow might be downright helpful.  Anything to make sure that the group doesn’t abandon its leader.

Long story short, I once wanted to write a fic about how Izanagi was simply Souji’s shadow in disguise, watching and waiting until everyone was safe, secure and happy before it made its presence know.

On an unrelated note, it has been a long time since I last painted in this style, and I missed it.  This was fun.

For me, Kanji’s shadow was the most important and spoke the most volume to me (as a trans dude who struggled with his own self-worth as a man who likes “”feminine things””) and it’s really important to me, so I made a print of Kanji!

I finished P4 last night and went back and did the ‘accomplice’ ending and now Im convinced that could only actually happen if it was really shadow Souji because I felt like a monster

this was definitely, absolutely a well thought out plan that totally wont end in disaster. /s
