elusive life update

Very excited to be revisiting Tchaikovsky’s June and Ginastera’s Suite de Danzas Criollas for my recordings next year, as well as maybe finally completing Mozart’s K310 in A Minor. The first two are definitely favourites from my repertoire history, and though I was skeptical about playing pieces I’ve played before (it felt like a regression), my teacher told me that it will be vastly different because of how much I’ve grown as a pianist and person since then, and I look forward to it now. 

The last choice was one between Mozart and Haydn, but for a personal sense of fulfilment I chose the more difficult and more emotional, because it’s my last 2 years, and I’ve started & stopped this goddamn sonata so many times it’s not even funny - SO I’M GONNA COMPLETE IT WELL ONCE AND FOR ALL!!! To sum it up, I look towards the musical aspect of Years 5 and 6 with hope. It’s gonna be painful and exhausting, but I’m ready to work for it, and make beautiful music. :)

how does one prevent violent emotional reactions to films with fictional plots and fictional characters and things that are not real 

yep, reaching for the moon is definitely in my list of things that Cannot Be Experienced Again Until In An Unmistakeably Stable State: things so depressing and powerful that watching them again will fuckin wreck me. 

the danger of using fiction as a coping mechanism is that nothing in your real life interests you anymore

"Callings" & affiliated inspirations

I don’t think I ever knew what it meant when people claim to be “called” to something, like a certain profession, or to do a specific thing, until yesterday. It was amazing really, how after spending almost my entire life denying any possibility of a career in law (because of familial pressure & what not), I experienced something so significant and life-changing: a calling. It was strange and inexplicable - one moment I was searching without a clear purpose of what I wanted to be when I *grow up, and the next I suddenly feel the NEED to study law and pursue litigation to the best of my ability. Two days and that was it, counter-balanced against 10 years. And to think of how glaring that option was all my life seeing that both my parents are lawyers. So that happened.

What’s up with you guys?
