two things to take away from this:

2. I hate how English subtitles reify the Chinese pronoun “tā” which is genderless in speech into “him” because of heteropatriachy. Even though Jen (Zhang Zi Yi’s character) did have a male love interest, this subtitling is still so unfortunate!
