"COWSPIRACY: The Sustainability Secret" is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following an intrepid filmmaker as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today, and investigates why the world's leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it."
How would you describe Cowspiracy?
Keegan- COWSPIRACY: The Sustainability Secret, is a feature length environmental documentary following my co-director, Kip Andersen, on a journey as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today and investigates why the world's leading environmental organizations are failing to address it.
When is Cowspiracy scheduled to be released?
Keegan- We are almost finished with the film and so we don't have a set date yet for release, but I can say that we will have some exciting news around Earth Day, April 22nd, 2014. People can keep up to date with the film and this growing movement atwww.Cowspiracy.com
What inspired you all to create this documentary?
Kip- I've cared about the environment for a long time, but when I learned of all the atrocities caused by the animal agriculture industry to our planet and realized that the environmental groups I had been supporting weren't mentioning it anywhere, I became incensed . After emailing and calling them for months on end to no avail, we realized the only way to get through was going to be visiting them in person, along with a few cameras!
What was the most difficult experience while filming the documentary?
Keegan- The most difficult part of making this film was finding out how unbelievably destructive large scale animal agriculture truly is to the planet. I felt that I was aware of the issue, but as we did more research I was shocked by what we found. I think every viewer of this film will feel the same way, regardless of how much they think they know. There were many challenges with making this film, just like any, but we have been dealing with a very unique situation because of who controversial this subject is. We really haven't been able to talk about the film much until now.
What changes do you hope for with this film?
Keegan- We hope to inspire a radical shift in the conversation around climate change and how we address all environmental issues. For far too long the focus has been misdirected by environmental organizations too afraid to address the real killer industry on this planet. We want to get this tremendously important information out to as many people as possible and put pressure on large environmental organizations to start addressing animal agriculture's true impact on the planet we all call home.
What ONE thing are you hoping viewers will do after watching?
Keegan- We hope everyone after watching the film will visit www.Cowspiracy.com to find out about all the powerful things they can do to help our planet, animals, and people live together sustainably in peace.
Any other information you would want people to know about Cowspiracy?
Keegan- We have spent over a year working intensely on this film. It is almost complete but we now need a ton of help from the community to get this film out their to the masses. Please visit www.cowspiracy.com to find out how you can get involved!
