Why love one but eat the other? Farmed animals are no different from companion animals in their ability to feel love, joy, and pain. Both want to live.
Most of us are born with a natural affinity toward other animals. Yet we are conditioned and taught that some animals should be treated as commodities, others as companions. Ask a child how they view animals and likely they will describe them the same you would your best friend! Let’s get back to our roots and show compassion towards all living individuals, whether they walk on four legs or two.
Outrageous! Grist posts what is meant to be a humorous comic about the slaughter of chickens! What if this was a cute cartoon featuring a dog having his throat slit?
Leave comments and write to Grist’s editorial team to let them know that this is cruel and distasteful, especially for a publication that is dedicated to environmental news. http://grist.org/contact/

Errol the rooster wants you to become a hen rescuer for life and adopt one of his lady friends! Our next adoption event is July 25th at the Humane Society Silicon Valley in Milpitas, CA. Apply to adopt and pick up your lucky hens at our next adoption event. We may save these hens from terrible living conditions and an untimely end, but it's our adopters who are the real rescuers, providing lifelong care to some cool birds. http://animalplace.org/adoptable-chickens/
Please share and help these rats out! North Star Rescue (Bay Area, California) has been working to save 500 rats from a home. The caregiver rescued a few rats from a neglectful situation but quickly became overwhelmed, resulting in rats getting loose, breeding, and fighting. Despite everything they have been through, many of the rats are friendly. If you can help by volunteering or fostering: [email protected] If you are able to adopt: http://www.northstarrescue.org/adopt-a-pet/how-to-adopt/pet-adoption-application
Ever think about adopting a chicken as a companion animal? Animal Place has 490 hens and 6 roosters looking for their permanent rescuer!
