Our Brave the Cage Challenge is expanding! We are looking for a new addition to our team who will take this campaign to the streets! We are looking for someone in the Bay Area or Sacramento area who loves outreach and wants to show the public how 95% of hens in the egg industry live. Check out the Brave the Cage Challenge Coordinator position here: http://animalplace.org/get-involved-job-openings/
This weekend, Rescue Ranch Manager Jan Galeazzi and Caregiver Darren Roth, along with dozens of amazing volunteers, finished the first round of health checks on the 1,525 newly rescued hens. The hens had internal & external parasites and a variety of ailments due to living in battery cages, but they’re now being nursed back to health and will soon be available for adoption!
Apply to adopt today (California residents only): http://www.henrescuers.org/adoption.html

Had a chance to see what Animal Place’s Brave the Cage campaign is all about? While those that dare to enter the human-sized battery cage aren’t de-beaked, ground-up alive, diseased, or killed after two years of age, folks do get to feel what it’s like to be confined to a tiny, metal, claustrophobic cage. The campaign aims to teach and embrace empathy.

Check out Animal Place’s Brave the Cage campaign, which asks the public to see what life is like for 95% of hens on egg farms by stepping inside a human-sized battery cage. We’ve taken this campaign to places like the State Capitol in Sacramento and the University of California, Berkeley. See how passersby respond after stepping inside the cage.
Do you think your area has what it takes to brave the cage? Where do you think we should take the cage next?
Thanks World of Vegan for making this incredible video!
Join Animal Place at the University of California Berkeley campus to brave a human-sized battery cage. Experience what life is like for 95% of hens on egg farms. Help encourage folks to ditch the cruelty of eggs, challenge passersby to ‘brave the cage,’ get petition signatures, and hand out pro-veg lit. The more people that attend, the more people we can reach! Share this event to help make it a success! https://www.facebook.com/events/1137780549570749/
