It’s always the right moment to talk about the many social justice issues that plague the world, affecting both humans and nonhumans, and practice compassion wherever you go. Counter Punch shows how Angela Davis connects humans, other animals, and doing what is right.
Speak out against injustice. Demand others do the same. It is the just thing to do.
Attention! Wyoming governor signs ‘ag gag’ bill to hide the disgusting and horrific truth behind the animal agriculture industry. What does this mean?
In states where ag gag laws exist, this legislature makes it illegal to document food safety and animal welfare violations. Any whistleblower, journalist, or activist caught exposing abusive farming practices could be prosecuted. It criminalizes your right to know the truth about who your food comes from.
You’ve got to ask yourself what animal ag doesn’t want you to see.
Fridays From the Field is from Caregiver Celeste, "Littlefoot hen always wants to help out! Here she is helping caregiver Ciara name some of our newest residents in the chicken barn."
Charges against the undercover investigator capturing cruelty to calves on a dairy farm have been dropped! Read @Compassion Over Killing's message of triumph here: http://www.cok.net/stand-with-taylor/ We can't let the bullies win. Cruelty to farmed animals is standard industry practice kept purposely hidden from your view. Undercover investigators shed light on the dark sheds and barns confining and exploiting billions of nonhumans.
For the past 7.5 months, Rebecca Wolf has been a dedicated intern at Animal Place sanctuary. She worked in animal care for three months and then on the vegan farm for 4.5 months. She even helped oversee the interns while we were in transition between Intern Coordinators. Today is Rebecca's last day. I hope you will take a moment to thank her. She has dedicated the past 7.5 months to helping nonhumans and the sanctuary. She has been an integral part of the staff and Animal Place team. And, she will be missed. - Marji Beach, Education Director
Her supervisor Stephanie Litus wrote this about Rebecca:
“It’s better to be kind than to be right,” advised a wise and faithful farm volunteer.
“If you’re vegan, you’re both,” added Rebecca Wolf, then in her second month as a Veganic Farm Intern at Animal Place. Spend any amount of time weeding, planting or harvesting alongside Rebecca, and you will surely be impressed by her insight, compassion and wit with words. In total Rebecca has volunteered over seven months at Animal Place, first as an Animal Care Intern, then transferring over to the farm to help us through the critical spring and summer seasons.
Although she grew up on a commercial orchard, Rebecca was brand new to small-scale vegetable farming when she joined the farm team in April. Never afraid to ask a question, she learned the ins and out of our veganic growing techniques quickly. She has shared her knowledge and activism with volunteers and farm visitors, including over 40 elementary school students who visited as part of the Farm to School program. Rebecca gave a lesson on perennial plants and also helped the kids with a hands-on project: transplanting (perennial) asparagus!
We will deeply miss her proficient hands, big heart and cheerful attitude on the farm. Thank you, Rebecca, for your activism, dedication and hard work this season.
