Day 2220, 21 July 2024
The Woolwich Foot Tunnel, London
Today I bashed off the final three stages of the circular Capital Ring walk. The final stage takes you through the Woolwich Foot Tunnel under the River Thames and back to the start of the walk in Woolwich. I've walked under the Thames through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel on many occasions and the Woolwich one is very different. Whilst the Greenwich tunnel is well used and is quite buzzy with its excited pedestrians, runners and cyclists, the Woolwich tunnel is much longer, very quiet and damp making it feel quite eerie and almost sinister. I was quite relieved to emerge unscathed on the other side!
