Primary education really does suck in the US. Vast aspects of the world (like, oh, all of Africa) are largely left out. And the process of educating our youth largely squeezes out the curiosity and thrill of learning for the bulk of people.

This makes it a lot easier for our government to do all sorts of fucking things with little civic oversight.

Yes. And I am saying that the American system is set up to encourage that kind of sentiment in its population.

It's a racist system that, no shocker, ecourages racism from its population. We are taught in school that everything happens in western civ, the rest of the world is unknowable, uninteresting, empty. Moreover, education is do so painfully, so mind numbingly boring, it discourages learning more from the majority of those that grow through it, greatly decreasing the chances of people learning anything different.

Yeah, the person in the shared comment or post was racist. Yeah, I get that it was the comment about Africa being useless. But I think it shows a good job at why, in part, racism is still so prevalent in this country. Which I feel is important. Because it makes the kind of exploitation you see in the second share picture so much easier to carry out.
