Haku, listen. I just remembered something from a long time ago, I think it may help you. Once, when I was little, I dropped my shoe into a river. And when I tried to get it back, I fell in. I thought I’d drown but the water carried me to shore. It finally came back to me. The river’s name was the Kohaku River. I think that was you, and your real name is Kohaku River.
It’s like fire melting ice. Like positive and negative charges colliding. Like I’m waking up for the first time in two hundred years.
A U R O R A O ’ M A L L E Y for @marebarrow, happy birthday sage <3
ACOSF Spoilers
My heart physically aches when I remember how Nesta used Music, Dance, and Books as an escape from everything awful happening in her own world because they were her salvation.
And then I think about her relationship with Cassian, how their mating bond was a song, how Cassian said her power was a song one he had been waiting a very long time to hear, how Cassian gifted her the Symphonia because he realized Nesta’s love for music and made sure to fill it with not only the dance they shared at the solstice ball but the music she loved from the taverns, how Cassian noted Nesta’s love for dance and danced with her to give her back a good memory of it when everyone else used it to their advantage, how Elain noted that Nesta viewed the dance floor as a battlefield, and what was said about Cassian in ACOWAR when it came to his fighting skills. How Cassian left a book for Nesta about war strategy and she ended up reading more about it and brought her more when she showed more of an interest in it and it helped her with the Valkeries. How he got her the first ever book known to fae kind. How he knew she’d appreciate it as someone who loved books. How Nesta sees Cassian as a protecter, a warrior, and a knight just like in her romance stories. How the music fades away only when Cassian danced and smiled at her, and how Nesta said it was music between their souls, meaning that these two are each other’s protectors, each other’s salvation in a world that made them feel unloved and unwanted. And that makes me love them even more.
This was just utter perfection 😢 MY HEART!!!!
I saw @unhealthyklarolineobsession originally used this gif to describe Nessian and i wholeheartedly agree 😍
84 years from now I'll still be like...
Here’s Gwyn (looking very jedi-ish) to go with Nesta’s portrait. Her book could be titled A Court of Songs and Lights (Songs of Light?) while Elain could be A Court of Bones and Shadows 🤔 (me 6 hours later: i wonder why that title feels so familiar… i’m fucking tired sorry)
“Do you have something to say?”

I’m *officially* rebooting my tumblr because I miss drawing fanart! Being an art student I’m really just focusing on my foundations now. That said, here’s an old draw of Jude and Cardan I did a few months back! So excited for QoN!
“Your beast’s little trick didn’t work on me,” she said with quiet steel.
“Apparently, an iron will is all it takes to keep a glamour from digging in. So I had to watch as Father and Elain went from sobbing hysterics into nothing. I had to listen to them talk about how lucky it was for you to be taken to some made-up aunt’s house, how some winter wind had shattered our door. And I thought I’d gone mad—but every time I did, I would look at that painted part of the table, then at the claw marks farther down, and know it wasn’t in my head.”
I’d never heard of a glamour not working. But Nesta’s mind was so entirely her own; she had put up such strong walls—of steel and iron and ash wood—that even a High Lord’s magic couldn’t pierce them.”
Tamlin had been wrong when we’d discussed whether my father would have ever come after me—he didn’t possess the courage, the anger. If anything, he would have hired someone to do it for him. But Nesta had gone with that mercenary. My hateful, cold sister had been willing to brave Prythian to rescue me.”
“I looked at my sister, really looked at her, at this woman who couldn’t stomach the sycophants who now surrounded her, who had never spent a day in the forest but had gone into wolf territory … Who had shrouded the loss of our mother, then our downfall, in icy rage and bitterness, because the anger had been a lifeline, the cruelty a release. But she had cared—beneath it, she had cared, and perhaps loved more fiercely than I could comprehend, more deeply and loyally.”
