80s slice of life movies are so tragic to me bc you can imagine how the characters lives are going to end up.. Gen x is really a sad generation to me. I think 80s aesthetics have become so cheapened and simulated beyond the point of recognition over the years. Paris is burning is technically from the 90s but it’s the same idea….so many dreamers lost and destroyed by a machine they barely understood

That’s hard but personally ep2/lp1 have such a place in my heart. Magdalene is maybe my least favorite. Not sure where to place eusexua. The genre blending of Caprisongs is so endearing to me. It’s like two very iconic “sounds of London” working together beautifully and I don’t know if there’s another project like that aside from stuff arca has done w blending ambient and reggaeton. I think overtime I might even rate caprisongs as my favorite album.
Not even kidding but watching cardi go from stripper hoe comedian on vine to love and hip hop to minor celebrity to billboard charting and staring in blockbusters while also doing community activism was one of the most uplifting inspiring things in pop culture that got totally derailed and cursed by the most feds coded take down of another artist….the cardi Nicki feud was 100% a government thing and I’m sure they both know this deep inside. I think the ramifications have finally died down but both will never have the kind of reputation and power they had before. Cardi used to be really so raw and funny and astute in her observations on things going on. Nicki was trying to be the Madonna of rap, I don’t know why they couldn’t have been in their own lanes. It was the most insane convoluted shit ever. Even Nicki’s come back was entrenched in this dark energy and cardi is so fried. Propofol I know they hope I fall

It was such a brilliant choice for Lana del Rey to deglamorize herself the way she did in the early 2020s. I don’t think abt it as much as I should but Azealia banks was the first to do it…lana was just the first to keep up a commercial life and be unglamorous and curated on social media and re carpet. Charli xcx now adopted it kind of… in this very controlled way. It didn’t make sense to anyone at the time but I think it’s weird it never affected actors really. Timothee Chalamet has way too much of a curated glamorous image and the success in people’s response to this recent press tour he’s been on makes me feel like the pendulum has swung back. Also with how brilliant eusexua is..and how controlled and glamorous it is. I think things are going to shift. The Oscar’s are going to be so tacky.
Honestly at the end of the day upper middle class people will fill my cup up one way and regular people will fill it up on another. I think swingers/polyamorous people were a symptom of toxic individuality. I think this phenomenon happens when people feel limited by only having themselves/their partner as a frame of reference. Especially if overtime they and their partner have coalesced….and experience everything together. I think it’s why people cheat too. You don’t even need to be in an open relationship to solve this you can simply just have your own separate hobbies and friends that don’t overlap. Idk how related it is to codependency, bc I have seen codependent relationships where both party is completely different. It’s more of an issue of both party being so solipsistic, their concept of their romance is like an extension of that where they basically mirror each other.

All I’m doing is suggesting a hypothesis for a cause of something I find empty and depressing. I’m not worried about it as an emerging trend because I trust most rational people will see it for what it is. This isn’t even anything that deviates outside the norm, it’s the most boring antiquated practice that’s tried to redefine itself overt the last 20 years. It works for some people so it will always exist, but I just think those people have something abnormal about them. I feel less paranoid abt this actually and think it makes it easier to discern weirdos from normal people. Engage w what I’m saying instead of projecting a point of view onto me that doesn’t reflect my criticism at all. And if you’re going to add a snarky passive aggressive comment don’t try to react all confounded with my replies like it’s unwarranted. Enjoy waiting longer to take a shower and playing turns w who gets to watch. I’ll gag at the thought of it in my own privacy,
