I imagine one of the first things Steve and Bucky did after they found a little bit of 'stability' in their lives in the 21st century was visit their family members graves.

I imagine Sarah Rogers grave being a little more decorated with flowers, miniature American flags, and some coins on top of it. After all, she's Captain America's mother. But she was Steve Roger's mother first. And Steve Rogers knows his mother's favourite flowers.

I imagine Steve silently sitting in front of her grave and just remembering his mother.

For Bucky, I imagine his parent's graves wouldn't be the same as Sarah's. I imagine them being well taken care of by Bucky's sister, Rebecca. But after her death, they start to collect dust and leaves. Only cleaned once in a while by a kind soul.

I imagine Bucky carefully cleaning the grave and putting fresh flowers on the pot. I imagine Bucky putting his head against the stone that bears his parents names and quietly whispering, "Ma. Pa. I'm finally home. I'm sorry I took so long."

It kills me that there are moments when the Winter Soldier is doing stuff that he has the eyes of someone who DESPERATELY wants off the ride. I’m not sure how aware of anything he is internally, but there are moments his eyes look horrified, like something in there is aware and has no clue how to stop what’s happening. They’re too wide. Too startled. Like someone being forced to do something at gun point. He does it several times in this scene, and he does it when he catches the shield after shooting Fury.

The thing about MCU Bucky is that he was an unmarried 26 year old man living with another man in a culture where it was the norm to marry at 18. Bucky spent a decade continuously choosing Steve over a normative life. He was only stopped from continuing to live this way because he was drafted into WW2.

Like. That's kind of gay even if Bucky was heterosexual

Bro kept talking about how the 6 other super soldiers were the strongest people to ever exist (stronger than him) but he literally just takes one down using one fist and 3 hits

JESUS, THIS SCENE. JUST LEAVE ME HERE TO DIE OVER THIS.

Steve was so stoic when he asked, expression and voice both firm. He’d emotionally distanced himself from the situation, prepared himself for the answer to be no.

But then Bucky answers. And it’s not just – it’s not just a yeah, Steve, you persistent fucker, I remember you.

He proves it. Starts by talking about Steve’s mom and maybe everyone would know her name but not everyone would have that fond smile while they said it. A familiar smile, I’m sure - maybe a little smaller, a little more guarded and hesitant, but still familiar - because you can’t tell me that Bucky didn’t love Sarah Rogers like she was his own mother.

And then he says something more personal. Something that probably wasn’t in the history books. Newspaper in Steve’s shoes. That fond smile gets bigger; a memory - a dozen, maybe - about this same thing. About Steve.

And after that – well, Steve hadn’t prepared himself for that. His expression just breaks, crumbles into something that’s half-joy, half-pain. He’s so goddamn happy and relieved, because that? That’s his best friend. He has a piece of his family back.

Maybe a little rougher, a little broken, but that’s still Bucky Barnes and Steve’s gonna do everything in his power to protect him.

All the kudos to Sebstan and CEvans for acting the fuck outta this scene but also fuck everything for giving me these feels.

this isn’t even the set of lines IN THE MOVIE. the scene in the movie has “which Bucky am I talking to”, this is the set of lines from the first trailer…

Also, I’ll forever adore that Bucky’s First Instinct was to roast Steve. Like yeah, he mentioned Sarah, a sweet little memory, lulling Steve into a false sense of security….then roasted the fuck outta him in a way only a Best Friend, soulmate (whether it’s platonic or not doesn’t matter. They’re soulmates, your honor) could ever roast him. & It’s the first time we see the actual Bucky since the first movie.

It looks horrible. Horrible. They just make a joke out of his character. He looks like someone who is thrown into this bunch of people just because he was there but there is no plan, no character arc, nothing new, he's just a joke and can look pretty.

He is a ww2 veteran, he endured 70 years of imprisonment, torture and abuse, he fought thanos, he is cap's husband. Show some fucking respect marvel. I hate you fucking marvel. I hate you.
