people on tumblr be like “I’m going to create an environment that is so bad for people with OCD”

I’ve talked about this before, but some of the hot takes on this website sound identical to the intrusive thoughts I have at 4 in the fucking morning, so do with that information what you will

“you are a bad person if you don’t have this exact opinion about this minute detail”. maybe you should shut the hell up

“you’re a bad person if…”

“you’re not evil if you do x, it’s actually y that makes you a bad person!”

“if you don’t do x, something horrible will happen!”

stop it. you do not need to make arguments in this way, you really don’t. my OCD ass is struggling here

hey, let me explain!

the “obsessive” part of “obsessive compulsive disorder” refers to the OCD brain’s tendency to get into obsessive thought spirals. these are triggered by intrusive thoughts. one of the most common “themes” in OCD is morality (a fear of being a bad person)

when a website is full of accusations that you’re a bad person, it’s really hard for that to not become an obsessive thought spiral. if I am constantly made to feel like I’m evil if I don’t reblog a post, that’s not a long way off from my brain telling me that I’m evil if I don’t complete a compulsion

TLDR; OCD is really good at making someone feel like they’re secretly evil, and being accused of being a bad person makes that worse

[image Description: Screenshot of tags reading: #i'm not seeing how this relates to ocd #probably bc i don't have ocd #but either way I agree #these arguments are nothing but manipulative guilt tripping bullshit. End Image Description.]

some ppl treat transmascs like alright if you act "too" masculine you're a toxic monster of the patriarchy and if you don't act masculine "enough" you're actually just a girl. and this all depends 100% on how i personally feel about you at any given moment :) now dance monkey dance

there is something so darkly comical about tumblr potentially outliving twitter

tumblr, which is held together with duct tape and madness, run by three raccoons in blood stained Yahoo! hats and a handful of crabs, its only discernible source of income the sale of shoelaces from an inside joke so inside no one knows the original source anymore and fake blue checkmarks... that website still lives on

truly the cockroach of social media and I love it for that

You know our society is fucked up when people seriously think being a criminal defense attorney is like. A moral evil. Like people seriously jump to “wow you defend murderers” as if the majority of “crime” that happens on a daily basis isn’t literally stuff like addicts being caught possessing drugs or homeless people being arrested for loitering or fucking poor women stealing food and clothes for their kids like… the average person is just one or two paychecks away from also being deemed a “criminal” by society but yeah sure you should definitely act like needing to be defended against the state makes you an automatically morally bad person

It's not a mistake that in popular police procedural dramas legal defense for the suspect is portrayed as comically evil and the viewer is lead to believe that criminal defense gets in the way of police helping people lol

If I've learned anything on here it's that you need to be really aggressive about not elevating lesbianism above everything else like it's special and different from other genders and sexualities or you turn into the worst most annoying kind of person.

Like. Y'all need to realize that "lesbians are special above other people because they're not attracted to men" is radfem bullshit right. You know that you're repeating radfem shit for no reason other than to make you feel a lil special right.

“It’s often unhealthy to hyper-analyze your sexuality to the point where how you experience it changes where you belong. This is why the idea that broader terms are somehow more restrictive is baffling. Continuously breaking labels down and creating terminology for each facet of one’s identity shrinks communities until it’s just one person convinced that they’re the only one who relates to their experiences. It isolates people and ignores the importance of individuality within a collective identity.”

The author also dropped some gems in the last paragraph of the short article:

Also from the article:

A strong support network cannot truly exist if everyone’s label is so personalized and homogenous that it can virtually only describe them, thus divorcing the potential internalized bigotry and discomfort in their mind from the systems that are suddenly part of that person’s being and sense of self. If we only have individual snapshots of individual experiences, the bigger picture is nonexistent.

wildly disagree. hyperexplaining sexuality can be really useful in understanding how you fit in larger broader labels. Most hyperdescriptive sexualities are aspec just like most hyperdescriptive genders are non-binary. these labels and words help people feel more comfortable within the umbrella of larger labels defined by negatives (i.e. the absence of something - be it sexual/romantic attraction or binary gender). Any discussion of these labels’ place that divorces them from thier theory (if these are socially constructed categories, there is no limit on hpw many there can be) and the orgin of their creation/why people turn to them (the larger labels being overly broad and undefined as well as societally ignored) is unhelpful at best and aphobic/nbphobic at worst

EDIT: I clicked on the article…. It’s arguing that pansexual and omisexual (two words that are at least 20 years old) are a part of this trend and then links to another blog post that specifically calls out nb genders.

I need no more proof. This is aphobic and nbphobic.

I didn’t read the whole article and shame on me for that; i didn’t pick up on the nbphobia/aphobia until @cowboylikedean pointed it out. They make good points. The real culprit here isn’t the labels; its the gatekeepers of those labels.
