ok but where is the fic where sirius and james arent fast friends - where james /knows/ that the blacks are bad people and that sirius is bad people and he's a little brat to sirius and sirius is obviously also a little brat but then the ~magic of friendship~ brings the four of them together and they all balance each other out etc my point is: sirius black and james potter away from home for the first time and learning who they are separate from their surnames

potter vs. black: the great first year smackdown where they have a war that just gets worse and worse until sirius invents a jinx that impresses james so much that he just goes "wow" before he can stop himself and the two of them just look at each other for a sec and then sirius goes "I can show you how to do that if you want" and they stare for a little longer because that's a black and that's a potter and they're both kinda little jerks but then james just goes "yeah sure" and there we have it
