Reblog if you too want to hug Yugi
I could use a Yugi hug. He probably hugs good.
Man though you know what makes me sorta sad is when nerdy, “quiet” kids latch on to me during camp and they just talk and talk and talk about a thing they’re into (Skyrim, Pokemon, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, dinosaurs, whatever). And I see the kids just light up when they say something and I can chime in with an ‘oh hey, are you talking about [x]? I love that thing! Tell me more about it.’
Like, their parents will warn me ‘so-and-so is pretty quiet and hard to engage’ but no, man, just listen, your kid is so smart and so into This Thing, they’ll engage like fuck and talk your damn ear off it you let them. Frame it in their damn terms. Or! Just! Listen to them about their Thing! And they will engage with the rest of the material! Because they know you care about them! Amazing!!!
Quiet kids are usually that way because either no one listens, or there is always someone more dominant speaking wise in their group that always talks over them and then they give up. Some quiet kids are starved for attention and really really want to talk, but don’t always get the chance to
Everyone who reblogged this are good people. Bless you, this made me happy to read
i am the kid who asks kids what they like to see what we can talk about. it’s such a great way to make friends. i go to a camp with girls from all over the eastern part of my state with one of my best friends. i make friends easily, especially with younger and quiet kids. they are always asked, “so, what do you like?” and they name things off. it’s such a sweet thing.
One of my friends just found out yesterday that I’m one of those around my family. He couldn’t believe me because he’s so used to me being so talkative around our friends.
fire fist ace may be a bad bitch but we all know he’d be more invested in the puppy bowl than the super bowl

I hate jobs that ask you for your salary expectation my genuine and sincere belief is that companies should be required to publically declare what they pay every single one of their employees and prominently display it in a place that their employees and the public can reasonably and easily access and also that companies should have to declare the intended salary of a job at all times when advertising it lack of transparency honestly only benefits employers

Sometimes people use “respect” to mean “treating someone like a person” and sometimes they use “respect” to mean “treating someone like an authority”
and sometimes people who are used to being treated like an authority say “if you won’t respect me I won’t respect you” and they mean “if you won’t treat me like an authority I won’t treat you like a person”
and they think they’re being fair but they aren’t, and it’s not okay.
Day 51- Azura and Inigo Laslow from Fates. I just got their S rank support and I love this ship so much.
Hurt/Comfort is such an interesting thing. It’s basically an entire genre of fanfiction. I’d argue it satisfies a very basic, vital need–the same way that horror satisfies the basic need to be scared in a safe, controllable space.
And yet it doesn’t really have an equivalent outside of fan culture. "Tearjerkers” can sometimes come close, they’re probably the closest thing to a mainstream hurt/comfort genre that there is. But those types of books and movies don’t usually focus on the “comfort” aspect in the same way, and don’t make use of tension and release.
I think every good hurt/comfort fic makes use of tension and release just as horror does, whether the writer is consciously aware of it or not. Though of course the tension and release in h/c comes from different sources than in horror. Instead of anticipating something frightening, you anticipate the intimacy and/or validation that comes from the “comfort” part you know is eventually coming. That’s what provides release of the tension built up during the “hurt” scenes.
I could write a goddamned essay about this it’s so fascinating.
