Still really funny that Marvel named a movie “Endgame” and sold it as the final culmination of the MCU where they killed off two main characters and retired a third and then were shocked when people started loosing interest in the MCU after that
THIS
my marvel villain origin story: tony stark died and i am not a fan of it
there’s a big difference between “i’m sad because a character i was emotionally invested in was killed off” and “this character’s death served no purpose, was used for shock value, and is the product of bad writing and i’m upset about that”
Me:
This but also… it turns out HE was the suit of armour around the world all along
robert rly read the script for that scene and saw that m&m wrote tony apologising to steve and said “lol fuck off i’m not saying that” and yelled at evans for 2 minutes straight instead. what an iconic bitch.
Harley, already studying at MIT and practically working on a new project each day, overhears Morgan asking her mother for some form of self-defense aka low key asking for a repulsor. Pepper, of course, says no, because Morgan’s too young and so on.
However, next time Morgan goes back into her bedroom, there’s a brand-new potato gun lying on her bed. Next to it, she finds a simple card, saying:
Potato gun, Mark III
Your pal, the Mechanic
it’s sort of a tradition here in brazil - and in some other countries too -, close family friends, when older than the children, are called uncle/aunt by the kid and i find it v cute 💖
“That’s the hero gig. Part of the journey is the end. What am I even tripping for? Everything is going to work out exactly the way it’s supposed to.”
Happy birthday to the Earth’s best defender, to the man who sacrificed everything for a world that didn’t deserve him, to the man who always tried his best.
Happy birthday, Anthony Edward Stark. (May 29, 1970)
we didn’t see tony’s body because he’s actually just hiding in his basement waiting for everybody to leave so he can take morgan, peter, and harley to the park. faking his death was the only way he could make sure those avenger bitches never bothered him again
this got over 100 notes in like 20 minutes are yall okay
the MCU is basically a “five times Tony Stark almost died to save the world, and the one time he did” fanfic
Thanos destroyed an entire race for a gauntlet that Tony Stark could make in his basement while a build-a-bear rabbit mocked him from the sidelines.
Think about that.
Endgame Thoughts
One way I deal with Tony’s death and Steve’s “happy ending” at the end of Endgame is to think of it as a validation of Iron Man as a hero and a deconstruction of the Captain America legend.
Tony started out as a flawed man - not hero material, only fights for himself - and he ends up a hero, laying down on the line (not for the first time!). He has grown and matured and made something more of himself.
Tony Stark is Iron Man.
Steve started out as a good man - willing to lie to die for his country, jumps on a grenade - and ends up a flawed man, putting his needs/wants first (not for the first time either!). He has regressed and (literally) shrunken and became something smaller.
Steve Rogers is not Captain America.

What bothers me about Tony's death in Endgame is not the death itself, he dying to save the whole universe after proving his point to certain people would have been awesome. What bothers me about Tony's death in Endgame is that they gave him a happy ending, they gave him everything he ever wanted: Pepper, Morgan, time to rest and treat his wounds, peace and quiet, they even gave him Peter at the very end; only to take all this away from him. I know that I would never be happy about Tony dying, I love him too much for it, but I would mourn him and accept it easier. But what Endgame did was to tease me with what it could have been only to rip my heart out of my chest. And I'll die forever angry about it.
