I hate Lore Olympus threatment of the nymphs those are minor goddesses ffs
Especially the treatment of Leuce who, in the myth was Hades’s first love or at least his lover before Persephone.
and the characterization of Thetis who, in mythology refused Zeus’s (and Poseidon’s) advances AND was raised by Hera!! Like the number of women that could’ve been the homewrecker in Zeus and Hera relationship... why her.
And the way persephone used to be friends with them, yet treats leuce and minthe badly.

I redrew a panel of Gaia and made my own version (mainly because I don't like the LO Gaia design.)
About my Gaia
- I made her hair voluminous and wavy, almost close to curly as a loose reference of the old Greek art depicting her with such. I also made it a colour similar to the earth. (I originally thought of cherry wood.)
- I also gave her green eyes and made her beautiful.
- I gave her a soft, motherly look because in the myths, she loves all her children, even the Hekatoncheires.
- For this, thought you can't see it, she's wearing some vines and leaves around her hips and wears water themed bracelets as a reference to how she's the mother of Pontus.
- Since she is the personification of the Earth itself, she can manifest anywhere from the ground, mountains and forests.
- Her voice can be heard, no matter where you go, and when she does speak, she speaks in a comforting way, as if she's trying to soothe you to sleep.

How do you think Rachel Smythe, creator of Lore Olympus would fuck up your country's mythology/gods if she did a lore olympus-esque webtoon of it?
I'm sorry- but this will turn into a rant.
i dont like hating on the media we do get but she would probably do something similar to ''Loki, Lord of Chaos'' by Carolyn Fallon and randomize all the characters, personalities, relationships and stories just to do something thats different. Which isn't fresh and new, it's infuriating when you could have done SO MUCH BETTER WITH YOUR SOURCES! Like actually no kidding.
Also please don't send any hate to this person by the way, it won't change anything and this is just my rant and how I see the characters she depicted! 😭
Basically to sum up the main cast:
They made Loki this powerful and masculine man. Who is secretly in love with Sif but cant control his rage and the powers, so he is super missunderstood. 🖤🥀⛓️🔪🩸
Sif, this small little woman, who is so precious and a fertility goddess (basically Persephone but skinny legend) and she loves Loki, but is forced to marry Thor until Loki saves her 🥺🩷💐
Sigyn, the side chick that is in love with Loki, but will never have him because he doesn't like her. BUT- She still sticks around, making her look desperate and sad because she gave everything to Loki, tragic girlie. 😔💔
Frigg is basically obsessed with her son, wanting him to stay with her and traumatized because of child loss. Which ironically enough I think they captured pretty well! She's the only one who gets a gold star in this series ⭐
Thor, an abusive asshole, who is a ladies man, basically Apollo 2.0 because of course they'd paint him that way......🫠
Fenrir a badass girl who is wild, with a tragic backstory of her being abandoned by her parents because she was a wolf. And she is in love with Tyr when she went to asgard, but she also gets betrayed oh no! 🥀🖤😔
Hel, a giantess who goes to the gods, agrees to marry Thor only for loki to accidentally hurt and ruin her apperance and now everyone things shes UGLYY! But when she meets Baldr, who wants to stay dead to be with her, they're so happy yayyy!! 💀
They also keep introducing characters that don't even make it into the main story- what purpose do they serve, are they there to show you care or something?

Yet no one payed attention to the lessons. Why? Because most of them would simply take over jobs from their parents. That’s why the school had hired a new teacher in hopes that the students would behave since the former teacher quit.

For Lore Olympus, it's a big "Meh" for me... I love Hades & Persephone, but not a huge fan of these variants...
I don't know if you've seen its spin off (pretty sure it was by a fan?) for the Norse myths on the webtoon site XDXD It's called Loki Lord of Chaos and it's basically a Loki/Sif fanfiction XDXD Thor is a jerk, Sigyn is a wannabe rapist... it seems that they chose Sif as Loki's love interest because they wanted to find Persephone's equivalent for the Norse... Except Sif is Goddess of Harvest... which would make her Demeter, not Persephone XDXD I guess they should have picked Idunn?
Anyway.
It's sad that they twist the stories and characters so damn much you can't even recognize them anymore in the end :/
Don't get me wrong : twists can be fun! But at some point, there are only twists left, and the original characters and storylines have just disappeared, which leaves me with a question: what is the point of adapting myths if you are going to transform them so damn much?
If you don't like them the way they are, then just create your own new characters, and leave the gods alone...

I just realized that this actually extremely disrespectful of Hades to say since Aphrodite is technically his aunt in mythology 😭
Like imagine your someone’s aunt and you overhear your nephew bragging about his crush and he has the audacity to say that she’s way more beautiful than you, his aunt!

This what most of the ppl now look like istg. Like i get that ppl want to compliment others but don’t compare a human to a goddess. Not only is it completely unnecessary but it’s extremely disrespecting to the people who are still worshipping greek or roman deities, and it’s disrespectful of their culture. The fact they even want to be addressed by that is insane. It you happen to be named ‘Athena’ for example there is nothing wrong with it at all since it’s your legal name. But actually comparing goddesses to humans is next level.
I have this pannel for an example. This is not mine it’s from Lore Olympus. Why does one need to bring other women down? What happend to women support women? The goddesses represent the women in ancient Greece and Aphrodite has been one of the most iconic, important and one of the most worshipped goddesses back then. Aphrodite was often called a slut or whore because of her myths. Yet she is the embodiment of beauty and feminine desires. She represents the feminine beauty, desires and urges.
To call someone more beautiful than her is an utter disrespect to not only the pagan worshippers but to feminists as well. And to clear up misunderstanding, feminism is believing in equal right between men and women. Now why would another woman not only put down a higher being, a goddess, but also a fellow women? What happend to all the actions the other women had fought for? It is so unnecessary and it shows how ppl tend to forget about not putting others down when they get compliments. It’s disrespect to it’s finest
This pannel of LO also shows why it’s so problematic. It’s not a feminist retelling. It doesn’t support women. And it slut shames other women in it’s story. It’s only a feminism story when it comes to persephone. Demeter, Leuce, Minthe, Aphrodite and countless nymphs have faced all sorts of women problems. Nymphs aren’t just mythological creatures used for the pleasure of the gods. And the rest of the women from the cast were villainized for no reason.
Thats not feminism. That’s almost considered misogynistic.

Minthie was dragged through the mud just for extra crayon written drama and the nymph nation did not deserve this shame 🦈
They made Minthe a better character than persephone and gave her the most unfair treatment ever. Remember how minthe slapped hades and apparently she was being abusive?
I think Hecate is abusive too. She slapped hades way harder
Let’s also not forget this deleted thing Rachel scrapped cause hades seemed “too cruel” also Persephone just not saying anything and letting him say that to Minthie just like that? Wow such a kind goddess? What happened Persephone?
Just saying if I were in Minthies shoes and I saw my FIANCÉ emotionally cheating on me and replacing me with a 19 year old looking baby? Persephone would wake up bald and Hades would end up with no nose. 🤨
