Take a deep dive into Antarctic waters to explore a hidden world beneath the ice. Once thought to be low in species diversity, the Antarctic is now known to be home to a rich variety of life. This immersive dome experience showcases a surprising and visually stunning array of marine life that flourishes on, around, and underneath the Antarctic ice.

Without water, life as we know it would not exist. The first living organisms on Earth appeared in the ocean nearly four billion years ago. Some, including our ancestors, adapted to life on land. But the ocean is still home to more kinds of life than anywhere else on the planet.

In Water World, take a ride in this immersive dome experience to gain a new perspective on our home planet and splash down into the deep oceans to explore the variety of life underwater. Created with the same techniques as those used to produce Space Shows for the Hayden Planetarium, this original film mixes science visualization and high-resolution video to carry viewers on a journey from the outer solar system into the deep ocean waters of our planet to explore the rich diversity of marine life on Earth.

Located in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, Water World is free for Members or with Museum admission! Plan your visit.
