hello, i was wondering if u could write a bit abt witches? im not really a writer and i need help. thank u

Hi there! I've actually written about witches a few select times on my blog. Here's a list to get you started (some of them aren't specifically witches, but they still possess magic):

Can Only Move the Eyes- this is the closest to a witch on my blog, even though I define the character as a sorceress.

Vengeful Souls- Warlock, I think? That's the dude equivalent of a witch, right? My guy uses magic, that's the point.

This one- A witch's curse involving a princess.

Just A Poke- modern witch

A Cage of Moonlight and Magic- a collab between @nightfrostshadow and I. Magic, not particularly witches, in a circus. There's a part two linked in it, as well.

The Society- not explicitly witches, but practically witches.

This one- casual mentions of magic/powers.

Chaos Via Pleasantry- also casual mentions of magic. This one in the form of candy!

This one- more so involves a witch more than it's about the witch.

Lifted by the Neck- And finally, this one is closer to...a god...or powerful creature, but it's still in the realm of witches, I imagine.

As a final note, I know a lot of these aren't explicitly witches, but I always simply thought of witches as magic-users.

The gist of using any power, or magic...however you want to define it... is that there should be some limit to their abilities. Within my blog, I don't often define that limit, as I'm just trying to write quick snippets, but in my novels, I tend to come up with a system or limitation!

Another biggie is normalizing the use of magic- if witches are a well known creature or race within the world you've created. Unless another character is completely unaware of witches, they might not be particularly surprised by the use of magic. Maybe a few, casual, "Wait, you can do that?" 's. Or, minor, perhaps humorous questions, like, "Hold on. If you can spew fire from your fingertips...can you breathe fire?"

If you need any more tips, or have questions, please feel free to hop into the ask box!!

Just A Poke:

“You need to chill out,” Merilyn said with a mocking voice, shoving a needle through the cloth doll in her hand. She only needed to stitch the hair in. Of course, she would be ripping it out later, but in order for the doll to work at all, it had to be complete. How stupid? Lyn rolled her eyes at the thought. Why couldn’t this be as simple as whispering a few words and wreaking havoc that way? At least then there’d be no evidence. But noooo. Dear Grammy thinks this will be more beneficial to me.

The witch’s grandmother had once been the same as her, angry and wanting to do anything to hurt the person who hurt her. It did no good. The person she was angry with thought she was crazy and continued down his hellish path, and she was left feeling exhausted from her spells, and unsatisfied with the results. Merilyn would only reenact it all, and Grammy wouldn’t allow that to happen. ‘Make a doll,’ she said. ‘It will bleed in your hands and soon you will realize hurting this boy is not worth the sticky and smelly palms.’ Lyn only agreed because her grandmother wasn’t in the best of shape- best to please her than to have her die and haunt me for being a terrible ancestor. There was little else thought beyond this.

“It’s not like I’m making out with her or anything.” Lyn’s lip lifted in disgust. She could just hear that dumbass’ voice. Soon enough, though, she’d be severing his vocal cords; that didn’t mean she’d ever be able to forget his voice.

Candy Crystal

"Come'ere."

The child behind peppermint scented bars cowered away, tucked themselves into the farthest corner.

Child. They weren't a child, were they? Young, sure, but they were old enough that they should have been able to fight back. Fight back against another person, maybe. Not a witch.

Nails tapped against the bars. "Y'know I get unpatient."

Impatient, the child thought. Not unpatient. "What are you"- the child dared a glance but quickly looked away, seeing those horrendously long and skewered nails. They cleared their throat. "What will you do to me today?"

"Potion," the witch said. "Different than others."

Goodness, why are its 'R's so hideously pronounced?

"I do not want it."

The witch shrugged. "N'er stopped me givin' it to ya before." It whispered something into its hand before poking through the bar. The child felt a tug at their chest and legs as the witch continued. "Need a prentice-"

An apprentice. The child picked themselves up involuntarily. Whatever the witch whispered was doing this, and the child wanted to kill the witch for the lack of will it was presenting.

"-an' you're gonna the perfect one."

Now nearing the bars, the child said, "A perfect apprentice would be a willing one."

A weird noise bubbled from the witch's body. The child tried not to lift a lip as it opened the cell door. Their body still moved at the witch's will.

Before much longer, the child was presented with a...a crystal- one purple. 'Amethyst' came to mind. "What is this."

"Eat," the witch said simply.

Shaking their head, the child objected.

"Eat. It's a potion."

"It's a crystal."

The witch let out a low growl. "Potion is in candy. Eat it 'fore I make you."

With a reach of caution, the child grabbed the purple crystal- or supposed potion. They slid it between their teeth and closed their jaw. To say it was a surprise that the crystal bursted in their mouth would be an understatement. One even larger was this; the crystal was delicious.

The pleasantry didn't last long. Just as quickly as the crystal had bursted in the child's mouth, they fell to the ground, consciousness a concept they wouldn't understand until days later when they woke up feeling as light as a feather with magic in their veins.

This might have been done before but could you do a story of a princess in a tower and a dragon. But the princess is the dragon. Maybe she stays at the tower cause she has no where else to go. Knights hurt her trying to get to the supposed princess inside.

It’s been a while, but I finally got to sit down and finish this one after starting it forever ago!

******

It began as a wish- a wish for the patience required to withstand the life of a royal. Witches were just as rotten as genies, and perhaps the princess should have known that, but in several days’ worth of desperateness, she hadn’t thought of it.

See, the princess, Killah, had only wanted a reprieve- a break from all her royal duties. She was tired of lessons, tired of practicing posture, tired of identifying which spoon to put in her tea versus her soup. It was stupid, all of it. More than stupid, it was meaningless. So, Killah sought a solution.

Everyone in her kingdom, and those bordering, knew that the witch lived in the marshlands. It was a disgusting region, and the princess almost regretted going, but then Killah spotted a wooden structure and felt a beam of hope.

Not long after she spotted the structure, the princess was walking into it. The hut was small at first and Killah had to duck in order to avoid hitting her head. As she continued to walk in, though, it opened up- ceiling reaching up as far as the sky, walls further than the ends of any ocean. It was magic.
