Pet Show Outfit - BGC

Life has gotten busy with my new job, and I haven't had much energy to work on any projects. Looking through my Pinterest for something simple, I settled on the 2010 Pet Show outfit from the My American Girl line (now called Truly Me). I love the gingham skirt on the dress, and the outfit came with matching shoes and a headband.

Since headbands are trickier to make compatible with multiple hairstyles, I turned it into a rosette. It is in the hat category and works with the slider. All items are in the Primary palette by @needleworkreve.

Edit: Just to clarify, I do not consider the 2010s to be historical. I just wanted to make the outfit.

Powderkeg School - No CC

Inspired by the one room prairie schoolhouse that Kirsten Larson attended with her cousins and brothers. I started this build over two years ago when I was playing Kirsten's story, but never got around to finishing it. Horse Ranch gave me the push I needed. The exterior comes from Happy Birthday, Kirsten! and the interior from Kirsten Learns a Lesson. Originally I had included a root cellar that would have been used during tornados, but the basement wouldn’t save to the gallery.

No CC was used in the build so that you can insert your own favorite prairie and schoolhouse items. The only packs I used were: Get Together, Cats and Dogs, Cottage Living, and Horse Ranch.

Isabel and Nicki - A 1999 Lookbook With New CC

Here's the second part of my 2,000 followers gift. The Hoffman twins received 40% of votes in the poll, so since I have been wanting to update my AG sims dump for a while, I decided to go ahead and make their outfits now. They also fit with my lookbook theme for the month. Isabel and Nicki come from an interfaith household and celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah.

Lindsey Bergman - A 2001 Lookbook

First up in my lookbooks for Jewish American characters is someone from our May decade of the month, the 2000s. I've shared more of her story when I posted the meet outfit (linked below).

Lindsey's childhood aspiration is Creative Genius (from Growing Together) and she has the Dog Lover trait. As she grows up, I would give her the Friend of the Animals aspiration with the Creative and Good traits.

The hardest outfit to recreate ended up being the pajamas. In the book she's wearing a short sleeve shirt with matching shorts or pants, but I couldn't find matching purples with a star pattern.

Samantha's Bicycling Outfit - BGC

This outfit was introduced in 2006 as part of the limited Rolling Through the Ages collection, though it was never associated with the short story "Samantha's Blue Bicycle."

  • Separate blouse, pants, and hat.
  • All come in swatches from @needleworkreve's Dark Romance palette.
  • Blouse has stripes and solids.
  • Pants mesh comes from @waxesnostalgic's Plus Fours. I tried to get them to bloom out somewhat, but needed them to still be functional.
  • Some boots won't work with the pants.

1960s Daisy Collection - BGC

I was scrolling through my Pinterest feed and came across a Sears catalog page from 1968. The bright pink outfits with daisy appliques caught my eye and reminded me of a Melody dress. Needless to say these items jumped high up on my to-do list.

Everything is in a selection from @needleworkreve's Primary palette. All outfits are full body. The blouse overlay can be found under right wrist.

Addy Walker in the 1920s

I can imagine the Walker family moving from North Carolina to Harlem as part of the Great Migration after WWI.

Addy is in her signature pink with white accents. Her dress was sewn by Momma, who worked as a seamstress for jazz musicians and artists.

2021 Diwali Celebration Outfit - BGC

During my New Year's survey I asked everyone what kind of content they'd like to see in the coming year. Most responses were general eras or styles, but one person specifically requested this outfit, which is part of American Girl's Cultural Celebrations collection. I was immediately interested but since the Hindu festival of light had already passed by then, the project just sat in the back of my mind for the next several months.

Done in the Love Bomb palette. Each color swatch has two patterns.

There the arms will look funky where they meet the sleeves due to the mesh being converted from adult to child. I can't even tell you how many adjustments and weight transfers it took to get the sash to look somewhat decent.

Kaya’aton’my’s Campsite – Sims 4

Inspired by an illustration in Welcome to Kaya’s World of a Summer Nimiipuu camp, I made a lot for my Kaya family to live on! It includes a river for fishing, several trees, and three “tipi tent” houses!

Notes:

  • No CC!
  • Meant for a 65x65 lot. Pictures are from Henford-on-Bagley.
  • Lot Traits include Bracing Breezes to add a skill to Kaya’s wellness and energy, Breeding Ground to increase chances of puppies, and Eco Lot, along with the Off-the-Grid challenge.
  • I did my best to be accurate to the biome and exterior; unfortunately there’s not a lot I can do about the interiors with the limited base game items. I designed one tipi to be Kaya’s family tipi with a bed for each family member, a tipi for indoor eating, and one for dancing, but the latter areas are quite empty and can easily be customized!
  • We have a horseshoe throwing area, guitars, woodworking and archeology benches, swingset and wooden dollhouse.
  • Each tipi has a campfire, with an outdoor BBQ Searer near the garden.
  • The garden is growing several Trees of Emotions, Taro Roots, Valerian Roots, Kava Shrubs, and Carrots. I tried to get blueberry bushes in but got bored of trying to find them so I added the Emotion Trees.
  • The river is fishable, as fishing’s a large part of Nimiipuu hunting! It of course has salmon, but also has bass, perch, trout and walleye! It’s also got a few swans swimming around...

The American Girl Club (Historical Edition) – Sims 4

Inspired by the American Girls Virtual Museum, we have a mansion hangout for all the Historical American Girl Dolls! Each doll (except the best friends, who hang out with their besties ofc) has their own little hangout area, based on the Virtual Museum if possible. The house is fully functional with four bathrooms, a kitchen, and a bed for each doll (incl. best friends) in the attic slumber party room!

  • Meant for a 50x40 lot. Pictures are from Del Sol Valley.

Addy's Birthday Pinafore - BGC

Addy didn't know when her birthday was, only that she had been born in the spring. When it was suggested that she choose her own birthday, Addy knew that she wanted a day that was almost perfect - the only thing missing being her siblings. The answer came on April 9th when word spread throughout Philadelphia that General Lee had surrendered and the War Between the States was over. As Addy enjoyed her first taste of homemade ice cream, she felt confident that she would be spending her next birthday with her brother and sister.

This was originally going to be my birthday gift last year but I wasn't able to figure out the mesh, so I set it aside. My birthday is actually on the 28th of June, but I ultimately decided that I didn't want to schedule the post for when I'm travelling.

Mesh based on the 1899 blouse and skirt by @vintagesimstress. Comes in 20 swatches from my Dear America palette.

This was a limited edition outfit sold from 1997-2000. Though a dress like it shows up on a couple book covers, it isn't truly associated with Addy's stories.

Done in a combination of Ultimate Plaids and Mothz patterns in the Pudding palette. Matching pantalettes attached under the dress.

Meet Lindsey Outfit - BGC

Lindsey Bergman is always looking for ways to help others. Whether it's by beautifying the city trash cans, trying to set her teachers up on a date, or advocating for animals, Lindsey gets involved. But most of her good intentions end up backfiring in one way or another. As the family prepares for her brother Ethan's Bar Mitzvah, Lindsey takes it a step too far by inviting an estranged relative without her parents' knowledge. On the day of the event as a family feud is revealed, Lindsey learns a lesson in limits and forgiveness.

Back during my follower's survey, one of the respondents said:

"You do historical stuff so feel NO pressure on this but if you made Lindsey Bergman's outfit I would die of joy"

While the Girl of the Year Line has never really been my thing, I figured that Lindsey was enough of a throwback and that her style is not quite historical, but not necessarily modern either.

  • The jacket comes in a selection from my Dear America palette.
  • The tights swatches correspond to the jacket. Tagged for all ages, since they don't use a mesh.
  • Shirt overlay has several swatches of the featured design, with two more from the book illustrations and the rest from Mothz patterns.
  • The jacket and shirt overlay are a merged package.
  • Skirt is in a combined Khaki Wacky (retired) and dirty denim palette.

Sweet Dreams, Addy! (Part 1 : CAS)

Dressed in her plain white nightgown with a knit heartwarmer, Addy dreams of the day when her whole family will be reunited in Philadelphia.

  • The nightgown is in the retired Milk Tea palette.
  • The heartwarmer is a separate accessory in various combinations from @waxesnostalgic's Vintage Neutrals. I made sure it was compatible with Addy's meet dress as she wears them together in one of her short stories. It works with a number of other outfits, too. Found under wrist.

750 Followers Gift - Part 2(e)

Maryellen's Vacation Playsuit - BGC

The whole family is surprised when Dad pulls up to the house with an Airstream trailer. He thinks it would be a great idea to spend the summer taking a road trip across the United States. Most of the siblings are excited to go except for the oldest, Joan, would rather stay home with her fiancé. The trip starts off well but between the Alamo and Yellowstone, Maryellen finds herself in constant conflict with Joan due to her responsibility looking after their dog Scooter. When Scooter gets spooked by some fireworks on Independence Day, he runs off, and the two girls are the only ones at the trailer. As they search for him in the dark, Joan gets injured. Maryellen thinks that Joan is going to resent her more but instead, she tells Maryellen a secret that brings them closer together.

There are two versions of the outfit. "Open" is meant to resemble the way the outfit is modeled on the doll. "Closed" is how it looks in the book illustrations. Both will have some clipping when sitting.
