BRIDESHEAD REVISITED (1981) — 1.01
The first edition of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited: The Sacred & Profane Memories of Captain Charles Ryder, released in 1945 by Chapman & Hall.
We were to spend the night at Marchmaim House. We went there to dress and, while we dressed, drank a bottle of champagne, going in and out of one another’s rooms which were together three floors up and rather shabby compared with the splendours below.
I loved Those People! Jason’s character, Sebastian, was a shining light.
This film is an actual Modern AU fanfic of Brideshead Revisited.
(and that's why I liked it)
It still shocks me that there's never been any sort of screen adaptation of The Charioteer. Like on one hand nothing could really do it justice but on the other,,,,, it would be nice to have lol
I have to say I was a little upset when Luca Guadagnino announced his plans to make yet another adaptation of Brideshead Revisited (that eventually got cancelled, but still). The Charioteer would be such a better choice, considering Brideshead already has a near-perfect adaptation. There are still a considerable number of obscure gay books that could make a good basis for a film/series.
