"A small babbler-like warbler with dark brown upperparts and pale underparts, a dark breast band, and a white throat. Restricted to the island of Príncipe, where it is easily recognized. Pairs are common residents in the understory and middle levels of low scrub, forest, and plantations. Clambers on trees and vines, poking around in the manner of a greenbul. Has a loud up-and-down musical song with notes on varying pitches, much like other Sylvia warblers."

"Beautiful bird with an olive back, red throat and forehead, yellow belly, and black chest band. There is a rare morph in which the red is replaced with yellow. Found in the undergrowth of montane forest. Skulking bird that is most often located by voice: a perky “chuwit-chuwit-chuwit.” Range does not overlap with the similar Four-colored Bushshrike."
