Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that Sam dug his heels in right at the outset, referring to Scooby as “Marmaduke,” (wrong Great Dane, Sam), refusing to play along with the “case,” pointing out the failures of cartoon reality (there’s not even any words in the newspaper), trying to tell everyone all along that ghosts (and monsters) are really real and they’re in a cartoon, sort of disdainful of Dean’s lifelong enjoyment of this dumb cartoon like he’s too mature to want to play Scooby Gang with Dean even after Dean literally says it’s a childhood (now lifelong) bit of happiness that’s supported him throughout their crappy lives… but then at the critical moment, he remembers a Scooby case to bolster Dean’s support of the Scooby Gang, and plays the game from that point on, up to and including restoring the Scooby Gang’s innocence of the reality of all the monsters and ghosts?

Yeah. Okay. Good.

Supernatural does this a lot, too. It has Sam quietly or not so quietly shame Dean for his loves through Sam (and others). Dean this episode tho? Dean fucking owned it. He owned all of it without missing a beat.

Elsa.

Scooby.

His Dean cave.

That fucking ascot.

Dean unapologetically loved what he loved and didn’t back down regardless of any skeptic looks or words. So proud of him. He’s so close now to being able to own everything else.
