Noticed something while re-reading Good Omens: the description of Crowley’s flat mentions beds, plural, but bedroom, singular. Ended up with a funny mental image I wanted to share.

Crowley has been waiting for the right time to say “you can stay at my place, if you like“ for longer than he lets on :P

I honestly did not anticipate how many people would find this sad rather than funny/cute. Oops? Rest assured, he does get that sleepover, eventually.

In fact, the night the world didn’t end, they were both too exhausted* to bother with the ladder, and ended up passed out together on the bottom bunk.

*Sure, they don’t technically need sleep, and sure, Aziraphale isn’t in the habit, but c’mon. It had been a long day week eleven years.

Several people in the notes also suggested that Crowley may have gotten his idea of what a couple’s bedroom should look like from watching old sitcoms, and that’s also very valid.

Well this is adorable. I’m os glad it took a fluffy turn ^///^

Dean Winchester + Left Bed

For the anon who asked if Dean has a motel left/right bed preference. After much research, I have to say there seems to be no preference. Looks to be a fairly even split between left and right. You can find the right bed highlights here

In other words: Cas sleeps on the left side

I was really surprised when I didn’t see my dash blowing up with meta regarding Castiel’s placement on the bed in 11x06, so I’ve decided to write a little post.

In 9x14, the shot is set up as such:

This has been done to death, so I’m not gonna really go into it, but there is a ton of negative space on Dean’s left. It’s jarring and calls attention to itself, which is done on purpose: that emptiness needs to be filled.

Now, look at Castiel’s placement in 11x06:

He’s laying on the left side. To me, this is pretty self-explanatory: we rarely see any of the boys in bed, but the first time Castiel is actually laying down on a mattress, he is on the left, where Dean, the last time he had been remotely human, was on the right. They’re filling each other’s negative space.

Also interesting is the placement of the phone.

There’s a really great meta for phone placement on Dean’s end here, but I’d like to bring attention to the fact that, while Cas has a cell phone he uses, the landline is also on his left. Why? The lines of communication between he and Dean are finally open, and Cas can pick up the phone or dial without having to stretch or make much of an effort. Moreover, he will always come when Dean calls, and his close proximity to the phone demonstrates that.

Then, there are the close-ups:

If it wasn’t obvious enough, Castiel is clearly laying on the left side. He’s taking up the left side of the frame, while Dean takes up the right. Again, they’re creating spaces that the other fills; or will fill, eventually. Though they haven’t yet shared a bed, it’s pretty clear that they’d be perfectly capable to just based on placement alone.

my requirements for sleeping at night: is the pillow cool enough? are my legs positioned so they don't put too much weight on each other? are my arms tucked in nicely and not at odd angles? can I stop thinking about the day's events? is enough of my body out from under the blanket that I won't overheat? are my toes safely tucked in to hide them from monsters?
my requirements for sleeping in the morning: is the surface vaguely horizontal and not made entirely out of hornets

Oliver Peake: Japanese Bed
“This was an interesting commission. The client wanted an entirely sunken bed with hidden storage and invisible heating! We couldn’t go down as it was on the first floor so we raised it up. A simple solution elegantly executed, the floor lifts up to reveal storage ‘bins’ with a matching stepped drawer unit.” Materials Solid maple throughout.
