Time passed quickly for some and slowly for others. It has been nearly three months since that fateful night that Liam appeared in Olivia's training room to announce his intention to find a wife. Little did they both know that those brief weeks of Liam finding the one he was meant for was only building up to the end of the peace they had secretly cultivated between the Dark Kingdom and Cordonia.

The Birthday Cake

"All right. Now we'll let that cool."

Olivia wiped her hands and looked around the once pristine kitchen. It still amazed her that her son and daughter could cause so much chaos in such a short amount of time.

Her gaze settled on the two while a smile formed. Her seven year old son's dark brown hair was gray with the amount of flour his four year old sister had dumped on him when he teased her about being too short. Her daughter's face held a fine dusting of cocoa powder from her brother's retaliation.

A/N Sorry I've taken so long to write this. Life always finds a way to interrupt my daydreams 😂 For this one, I'm going back to my Another Night, Another Dream AU (which I do plan on finishing one day 🤦🏻). In that AU, I wrote a short where the TRR group were playing a game of being given a couple and a prompt to come up with a story. Here's round two of that game. *Also this AU has no conspiracies nor did Olivia's parents betray the crown.* This is an extremely LONG post! It probably should have been divided into multiple parts, but it is all here, LOL. The story grew out of control, but what else is new?

"No mam." Madeleine stepped into their library.

The walls were covered with a variety of the history of the five kingdoms and the mysterious sixth. Madeleine had spent years studying every single myth in the hopes of finding hints of cures and such for the ailments of her people. Her usually sharp gaze softened at the faded leather spines. They had been her source of comfort long before Regina arrived.

We will also begin to see what some of our other TRR characters are and how they affect this divided kingdom of Cordonia. This is a VERY long chapter since I went into both Beaumont's histories, but I couldn’t find a good place to end their beginning to this storyline, LOL. Hope it doesn’t ruin this for anyone.

The rest of the unity tour was canceled. Unable to speak his reasons why he couldn't do it, Liam left that in the hands of his father and Regina. He didn't want to face the people without Riley by his side, without Drake standing steadfast, without Maxwell's unfailing optimism, without Hana's gentle support.

He had simply lost the will to fight.

Olivia had returned with him to the palace. Neville soon followed, insisting that he would do whatever Liam needed him to. Kiara, devastated by Penelope's death had retreated back to her family estate. Rashad was sent to Domvallier to recover from his injuries. Bastien refused to take time off and was doing his duties from a wheelchair.

Liam ignored all of it. He went to his chambers and remained secluded from the world for days. He refused entry to anyone who knocked. He simply sat there staring at the few mementos he had of those he had lost.

This might be the first ball in the history of Drake's years in Cordonia to actually cause a certain excitement. He usually put up with the pomp and traditions to simply be with those he cared about. For years it was to support Liam, then going meant he could hang out with Riley, Hana, and Maxwell.

And then there were his activities in secret for a year with Olivia.

He knew she would be arriving soon. Her absence from Cordonia had been one he felt more acutely than any other. His failure in telling her how he felt about her, his inability to have a civil conversation, even his voicemail had kept him fixated on this date.

Ethan knew something was wrong. Even without his highly attuned ability to detect the slightest tics and movements people made when dealing with pain, he still would have known that Olivia was upset.

What bothered him was that she felt the need to keep it hidden.

He thought they were well past the stage of not being completely honest. It had been one of the most difficult yet rewarding part of their ever developing relationship. It was terrifying and freeing to be able to tell her anything.

"I don't say this lightly," Drake thrust a drink in Thomas's hand, "but that was painful to watch."

Maxwell clapped a hand on his shoulder. "Were you able to say anything?"

"Nothing that will endear myself to her." Thomas winced at the welcome burn of whiskey going down his throat. "She didn't give me a chance to explain why I was here or why I had gone on so many dates once she left me. She said..." He finished off his drink, unable to think back to her coldness. "I have to fix this."

Let this woman do what she does best: defeating ENEMIES! The rest of this book should be Olivia getting rid of every traitor to the crown. Even her plants know how to handle these weaklings.
