My Bellice fic will be about as long as one of the saga’s books (I’m aiming at 120k) and hopefully it should be written a bit more efficiently
I have just completed my general outline, now time to split it into chapters! Bless Scrivener for being such a good piece of software
Scratch that, now that I'm almost done with the general chapter subdivision, I grossly underestimated the scope of it all, if I want to get around to doing everything I want, it’ll take way more than that, we’re looking at 200k, possibly more. I'll cut it down in the editing room later on but it's definitely going to be a big one.

There’s that one short paragraph from chapter 17 in Eclipse (p. 368 in the Little Brown paperback edition) that I still can’t get over… This is during the graduation party. It’s really easy to miss but it goes:
“Probably Alice had done this on purpose, to force me into the center of attention — a place she thought I should enjoy more. She was forever trying to make me be human the way she thought humans should be.”
And if this isn’t the perfect summary of book!Alice and Bella’s whole dynamic…
You have Alice’s well-meaning but ultimately vicarious plans, trying to experience humanity through Bella, a complete misunderstanding of what Bella wants, and, instead, Alice throws dresses and parties at her because she assumes that’s what that species so foreign to her, humans, must like. She doesn’t try to go much deeper than that. Still, she means well! But she also gets some pleasure out of it, clearly.
To Bella, it comes off as selfish and kind of manipulative from Alice, it makes Bella feel like a kind of doll, a plaything. And yet she never really confronts Alice head-on, there’s the odd snarky remark every now and then but the pattern of behaviour never changes.
It’s really ugly and fucked up and fascinating, much less cute and palatable than what the films did, but much more interesting too. These books are so much messier and weirder than we give them credit for, in ways that flew over my head back when I first read them more than a decade ago.

Book!Alice has that weird annoyance at human!Bella, especially in Twilight and New Moon and Bella is more than often a step behind, thinking that Alice sees her as kind of doll to play with, or a burden. It’s so much messier and weirder than what the movies went with.
Meaning that the untapped sapphic potential is much stronger. I’ll be using the books as my main source material, after all, my fic will mostly be responding to the books.

How about Bella and Alice having a gay little road trip in Bella’s old truck, discovering the Pacific Northwest together?
Twilight would be much better if Alice became human again and grew old with Bella
