Also it's not like Valeri will be in charge of everyone's basics. I doubt there'll be tons of girls with bent knees on their giants, cowboyed double fronts, and crunchy toe point (ok there prob will since tons of gymnasts have this but lol). Like when Marta and Bela took over everyone didn't have soft knees and tragic Geza Pozar choreo. It's not necessarily about the head of the system, but the evaluations and having a centralized system where all the gymnasts are together tbh
EXACTLY.
Valeri is a really really great strategist. He made Nastia an Olympic AA champion WITH A 1.5 YURCHENKO.
SEND THAT MAN HIS HOGWARTS LETTER BC THATS HELLA WITCHCRAFT
Something I just realized. Oksana Chusovitina has competed in the same competitions with Nastia Liukin AND Valeri Liukin. One woman amongst two generations of Liukins. God damn.
breathe if im your favorite blog
thank you
do a triple backflip if I’m not

Nastia and Nastia’s dad. lol
Nastia does not approve of tie-breakers.
Neither does her father. Plus: Same faces and positions too.
I just read a ton of people responding that Mihai wouldn’t be a good NTC because he’s not a good UB coach…do ya’ll think that Martha actually coaches UB? Nope. She’s the National Team Coordinator, not a coach. I think Mihai would actually make a good NTC. He gets along well with all the coaches, he doesn’t currently have any elites to coach personally, he’s good on the floor at big meets, he knows how to pace and condition athletes, he has a good rapport with almost all the national team girls, he has decades of coaching experience. Yes, he does have a personal coaching UB weakness, but he knows good UB when he sees it and would have no trouble selecting UB specialists and putting together UB lineups. Coaching =/= National Team Coordinator.
^^Exactly. Plus, the fact that Brestyan’s isn’t a huge elite gym would make me feel better about team selections.
But I still think it’ll go to Valeri, since he’s already doing the elite developmental camps. Then probably to Nastia… I can’t see her turning down that job.
If Nastia ever becomes NTC I’ll be moving to Mother Russia.
I think it’s absolutely clear they are priming Valeri to take over the NTC position and I’m guessing they will phase him in around 2017, so that his first big job will be 2018 Worlds. I’m skeptical that Marta will do another full quad post-Rio, and mid-quad Worlds is a good first big test for the NTC.
That said, it should totally be Mihai. And it makes me sad that it won’t be.
Oh, I totally agree it will be Valeri. I just wish it could be someone else. I’m not much of a Liukin fan.
Game Of Thrones x Gymnastics | [2/15]
House WOGA:
One of the most bountiful houses, WOGA is known for turning out athletes extremely gifted in all events. They reside on a large compound deep in the otherwise dry and desolate south. They have built quite the facility, where little is denied the few that Valeri deems talented. Revered by both his peers and rival houses, Valeri instills the rare balance of grace, skill, and power, making it’s gymnasts champions and WOGA one of the few true All Around houses. Rarely does a candidate, trained by Valeri from the start, have a noticeable weakness. What truly separates them from others, is their detailed elegance. Sharp, poised, and polished, WOGA candidates are extremely well bred, well equipped with highly coveted skills, and are never known to mentally falter. This constant perfection sets the standards for many ambitious young gymnasts, however it also leaves little room for casual error. Such pressure, although rarely, can lead to WOGA candidates to error in a big way, choosing to injure themselves rather than admit defeat. They are polite and cordial to competitors, but they aren’t particularly friendly nor cruel. They do not make a point to make allies nor enemies in competition, but its known that House WOGA comes to win. Anything less than the widely expected gold is a frowned upon.
Medals:
62 Gold [34 int/28 dom] 33 Silver [22 int/11 dom] 9 bronze [6 int/3 dom]
Interesting way of congratulating someone.
