SCAM Stats Recap- Part 2 (WAG)
Following my first post on the American Cup MAG part of the competition (which you can find here) I decided to follow up and do the same thing for WAG. Enjoy!
The Stats
- Out of a possible 36 routines 9 were missed (meaning 25% of the routines contained falls).
- Lorrane Oliveira (like her male Brazilian counterpart) had the most falls of any gymnast in the women’s competition (4)
- There were no falls on vault while 4/9 competitors fell on floor
- Out of all the competitors 3/9 gymnasts had a meet without any falls: Gabby Douglas (USA), Maggie Nichols (USA) and Ellie Black (CAN)
- 7/9 of the competitors all tied for the highest start value on vault, most vaulting a DTY
- Gabby Douglas totalled the highest difficulty across all four events with a total of 24.6 as her D-score
- The only person who did not tie or hold the highest difficult on an event was Tisha Volleman (NED) who also had the lowest difficulty score of the entire competition (20.7) across all four events
- Gabby Douglas won ¾ of the events, all of which she either tied for or had the highest difficulty score.
Highest difficulty score on each event:
- Vault: 5.8 -(everyone except Tisha Volleman (NED) and Carlotta Ferlito (ITA)
- Bars: 6.5- Gabby Douglas (USA)
- Beam: 6.3- Gabby Douglas (USA) and Maggie Nichols (USA)
- Floor: 6.3- Maggie Nichols (USA)
Highest scores on each event:
- Vault: 15.100- Gabby Douglas (USA)
- Bars: 15.266- Gabby Douglas (USA)
- Beam: 14.966- Gabby Douglas (USA)
- Floor: 15.200- Maggie Nichols (USA)
Essentially this recap is just another example of US domination in modern day women’s artistic gymnastics.
