Sooo I’ve been obsessed with EVERY song from “Epic: The Musical” for months now, but “No Longer You” truly pierced my soul and I desperately needed to pay a little tribute to this masterpiece 🤍

I haven’t draw a single line for about half a year, coming back to work with a portrait of Aziraphale was so inspiring and comforting, he had such an angelic aura in that precise frame from ep.2 that I couldn’t restrain myself from painting him (…and adding a non-existent earring as per usual, I know, I’m weak)

Watch me nonchalantly reappear from the ashes just to share my (delayed) renewed hype for GO season 2 trailer ❤️🔥 unfortunately I couldn’t create any new artwork in the last 4 months (—-yea can’t even remember how to hold a pen tbh.) BUT!! Ahh it feels unreal to finally be able to post this ALMOST neverending work, even more surreal is to declare it completely finished after several months of tribulation and constant uncertainties :’) So here it is, I surely wanted to make more adjustments, but to be honest, this piece has been through a lot of change, to keep on modifying it would be altering its nature, so I made my peace with perfectionism and decided to leave it as it is, hope you’ll like it!

On the last day of Mermay! @whiteleyfoster had the most charming idea for this picture, and I'm gonna partially quote them:
A.Z. Fell the biologist is at sea with a bunch of smelly fisherman, ferrying him around from island to island, because he’s trying to find this illusive merperson that Professor Gabriel and all those other stuck up scientists told him didn’t exist. And he finds Croalei, they fall in love, and he goes back to the laboratory like, "You were right, I’m a fool for thinking I could find them... by the way I quit” and goes to spend the rest of his life on said island.
And when he runs out of books to read to them, he just starts writing his own.

Croalei is just unbelievably beautiful, the pose in which they lay is so fascinating and realistic, reminds me of classical paintings were figures assume the famous reclying position, truly splendid-- and the expression doesn't need any explenation, those tender eyes speak by themselves while staring at that cute Azi's face ❤ Speaking about Azi, I so love his look, those wide and puffy sleeves are lovely, and those delicate hands holding the book he's reading to Croalei I mean LOOK HOW HAPPY HE IS I'M WEEPING
Also, the details in this are insane-- the mermaid tail is killing me with the light reflecting on its scales, the gradient of the water that slightly mashes up with the land HOW?? And aren't we gonna talk about the fishes' shadows underwater??¿ I can't that's just too much to handle
Once again late at the party— if I keep on coming the day afterwards nobody will invite me ever again :’D
