These Ladies (Apis mellifera) are the only reason I am still maintaining my nectar feeder in November.
Sadly, it seems the neighbors' Western Honey Bees (Apis mellifera) are determined to become a problem, it's getting tough to work around Feeder City without bees bullying me.
A Bluebottle Fly (Calliphora vomitoria) sharing a rotten tangerine with a Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) this morning.
It appears my nectar feeder is becoming a big food source for the neighbors' Western Honey Bees (Apis mellifera)
A Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) working around the hanging birdbath this morning.
Some Western Honey Bees (Apis mellifera) have finally found the rotten tangerines I frequently leave out in the feedlot. I have no real use for rotten tangerines as no one here will let me "bop them on the bean" in any case.
Some Western Honeybees (Apis mellifera) helping themselves to the bounties of the Feedlot.
I have not seen any Hummingbirds in some time, but looks like I need to still maintain the nectar feeder...lol
I am not sure if the Western Honeybees (Apis mellifera) are just drinking from the birdbath in this way, or they may be gathering algae...
A Flat-Tailed Leafcutter Bee (Megachile mendica) on the Sea Myrtle (Baccharis halimifolia) this Sunny morning...
Marginated Thin-Lined Calligrapher fly (Toxomerus boscii)(Toxomerus marginatus) on a Potentilla flower out back...
I stand corrected!
Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) drinking water from the hanging birdbath.
A Ruby-Throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) and some Western Honey Bees (Apis mellifera) getting in each other's way at the nectar feeder this morning. ( Seldom truly like an image, but the 2 bees with the hummingbird, all in flight, is a real fave at least for now...lol)
A group of Western Honey Bees (Apis mellifera) are still tanker-trucking water off across the street today. I had to tap the birdbath on the fence to get the bees to takeoff so I could clean and refill the birdbath. There was a small cloud of bees waiting for water when I brought the it back...
This Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) is surely making me consider hacking off at least one bee guard from the Hummingbird feeder.
A small Metallic Sweat Bee (Augochlora…spp) out on the Mint flowers this morning.
Eastern Bumble Bee (Bombus impatiens) working over the Mint blossoms this morning.
