Another Dawn- Page 24

Poor, poor, Sherry. Seriously, this kid is so traumatized by all the horrible shit she's seen. I mean, can you imagine yourself at 12 and going through this? Hell no.

I also liked the idea that it's Sherry that calls tyrant Mr.X. Seems like what a kid would do. And I also wonder just how many people did she watch Mr.X kill? I mean, Sherry got to the police station fairly early, right? So she was there when other people were alive. Hell, she could have been there when Jill was escaping from Nemesis for all we know. We just know she was hiding out in the air ducts and shit narrowly escaping monsters left and right.

I'm happy with how the last panel came out, just the idea of Claire and Leon both stepping in to comfort her. It really brings a cuddly feeling, no? And then Claire's confusion as she knows that her and Sherry were the ones who saw Mr.X get killed.

We all know that the remake's storyline wasn't a proper A/B, so I'm gonna play with that in a way that our heroes would discuss it.

Another Dawn- Chapter 1-3- Page 22

I really am looking forward to seeing peoples reaction to this chapter. It will start to delve into the effects the Raccoon City Incident had on the world, and I can't help but feel this situation we're currently in being a huge reflection to what I had written months ago. There might be a x-files vibe written in here, or at least that's what I was thinking of when I wrote it.

And this chapter will start to delve into our survivors backstories. I'm going to be doing a lot of tying into what is cannon from the original and remakes, and then adding my own flavor. I hope that it’ll all blend together well and take the story where I want.

Be prepared for surprises that make sense. I hope you enjoy.

You know, it did sorta pain me to write Claire saying "Totally", but then I gotta remember that she's still a teenager in the 90s, height of valley girl language despite most of the country not being in the valley (a.k.a. California).

It's pretty weird looking back at the characters now, being older than them, and having to think like a, uh, young person again. God damn do I feel old. Doesn't help that I just turned 35 this week.

Also, what you smiling about, Sherry? Leave that poor boy alone!

Finally getting to actual interaction between characters, it's been a long time coming. So, of course it has to be about the good old dilemma of being a female out in nature.

I know I've had my share of inopportune potty calls when I was out in the middle of nowhere without a tp roll in sight.

Then again, I wasn't covered in zombie guts and G blood, so thats a plus.

Really, my take on the Post Raccoon City Incident will shine a more human light onto our survivors, for good or worse. Hope you enjoy. (Also sorry if I'm rambling, my toddler has been up every night for the past month and I'm averaging 5 hours of broken sleep a night. 8D)

Ahh, nothing like a good old sulk, am I right?

Claire is a badass, but she's still a teenager. I'm sure after everything she's gone through she deserves a little pity party.

But seriously, I really want to try and show more complexity into everyones characters, so things are gonna get, uh, serious in some of these chapters.

I hope you like the direction I'll take.

If there is one thing I really liked about the remake is how Claire felt as a person. I loved the original, but she just seemed to perfect/motherly right off the bat, ya know? This version of Claire? She sees how fucked up Sherry's relationship was with  Annette and is just done with watching it happen.

I like to imagine it's because Claire can't imagine what a mother would be like who was so distant, unless she were dead.

And then, being a mother myself, I can totally see the dilemma Annette was in. To save just your daughter or to try and stop your monster husband from spreading even more disease?

The scene where Annette said goodbye to Sherry over the surveillance camera was pretty sad and really made me feel for Sherry.

Its like, she just accepted that she wasn't as important to her mother as everything else, and its that dynamic that she grew up with. Poor. Kid.

She totally deserves a puppy.
