Hi, crew! If you're coming over from Twitter you're at the right place! I'm akingnotaprncss (King 💗💜💙) over there. I'm glad we can keep in touch. ❤️
"But you already wrote that trope."
my favourite thing about writing is slipping in totally innocent lines that will absolutely DESTROY the reader on a second readthrough
I feel called out hehe
“how’s the writing going?” i’m glad you asked! my room has never been cleaner and i’ve decided to take up baking
“everyone is going to hate it” someone will love it. someone will reach out to you and tell you it changed their life. someone will hold it close and treasure it forever in a way you can’t even understand. keep going
You gotta write for funsies sometimes. Everything doesn’t have to be groundbreaking. Like. Who cares if it’s a little silly it is made out of love
Your first draft is like the "alpha" version of a video game.
⭐ It doesn't have to be perfect-- it doesn't have to be good.
⭐ It's not a finished product-- no one is going to be judging your finished product based on it.
⭐ It gives you a baseline of where the project is going, and something to continue to work on fine tuning and iterating.
Don't stress about making your first draft "perfect"-- just get it done so you have something to edit!
⭐ Challenge yourself: to write what you want to write, rather than what you think other people want to read.
⭐ Challenge yourself: to write at a pace that works for you, rather than one that will burn you out.
⭐ Challenge yourself: to write without constantly imagining what will happen to your story after you finish writing it.
small reminders you writers might need
- Your story does not have to be perfect from the start
- A shitty draft is still a valuable draft
- A failed story does not equal a failed writer
- Your creativity, thoughts and ideas are irreplaceable, and you are more than capable of creating something extraordinary
- Rome wasn’t built in a day, give yourself time to grow
- You will figure everything out, take a break if you need one
