i wonder how much of siffrin's personality was molded for the party. like we know that siffrin started to make puns a lot because it made isabeau laugh. they found their identity in being the funnyjokespun person for the party. i wouldn't necessarily say that they're acting, because they do genuinely like to make jokes and puns, but this aspect of his personality was actively put on to be more likeable. so it makes me wonder how different the siffrin before meeting the party is from the siffrin we meet at the beginning of the game
ISAT fans who got the two hats ending:
very funny how siffrin's favorite drink is sugarcane juice considering what wish craft smells like. our buddy over here is having his favorite food And drink ruined by the loops. this poor fella
hi if you have ever trusted me with a fic rec I ask you to place your trust in me again because this is so so so peak. you have to read this please
there are two types of isat players. the players who choose malanga fritters every time because it's siffrin's favorite food. and the players who actively avoid choosing malanga fritters because it's siffrin's favorite food
one of the things that I really appreciate about isat is that bonnie is a kid in a group of adults but it never tries to push a parent-child dynamic between any of them. they're all just bonnie's cool adult friends that care about them and look out for them
i know that loop flirts with siffrin as deflection and to hide their identity but it's still so fucking funny like of all the things you could do why Flirt. why is that your first instinct
there is something so funny to me about how baby sif was told the orrery room book story as a cautionary tale and that kid did not absorb Any of it. instead of thinking "this is bad and i should not replicate this" like was intended they went "aw man i wish that were me" fhhfjdd
what order did you play the games in stars and time/start again start again start again: a prologue in?
for the purposes of this poll, watching someone else's playthrough counts as playing, as long as you have seen the story.
the fact that siffrin's feelings for isabeau are so hinted at but understated throughout the game makes bad touch hit so hard because during the whole game I was like "does siffrin like isabeau. do they not. do they. do they not." like I was pretty sure that sif did like him back but those moments were so few and far between and indirect that i second guessed myself a little...
and then I got the "stuck in your yearning" line and did a little celebration inside my head. it's real!!!!!! concrete confirmation!!!!!! let's gooooo!!!!!!!!! yeahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
and then i didn't feel like celebrating that much anymore 10 seconds later
when. when siffrin acts similar to loop. when their speech pattern or internal monologue resembles loop's. when it's not the exact same line but similar and the two of them achieve the same (similar) thought in different contexts. auuagahhhhhh
it's really fun to read about siffrin through someone else's perspective because he's the cool mysterious sidekick archetype, and he acts outwardly fine like he has everything put together... but he actually has a bunch of internalised issues. and you didn't notice any of it, or you did but just waved it away because it didn't seem like a pressing issue.
but suddenly they explode out of nowhere and have a terrible mental breakdown and their issues come to the forefront and you find out that they were significantly less fine than you thought? the time loop traumatized them badly and gave them a bunch of issues sure but it also happened in the first place as a result of their other preexisting issues that you, once again, did not notice, or did not put much mind to.
and now you know that he's really good at hiding things that bother him and is terribly allergic to communication. even though he's trying hard now to be better, it can't be easy for him, and it's like... he's communicating about a specific issue he has, but you know at the back of your mind that behind that one issue he's communicating about there are probably dozens of other issues of varying degrees of severity that he's keeping to himself.
and on the flipside there are also a bunch of little things that siffrin does that they get really embarassed or aggravated over. but from an outsider's perspective it's just the cutest thing ever. they're screaming and crying in their head like why did i do that!!! are you stupid!!! that was so embarassing!!! but the other person just gets endeared about it
idk i think that this gap between what we know about siffrin and his thought processes, and how he outwardly acts and is perceived by others who do not know what is going on inside of their head, is something that is really interesting to explore
*gasp* siffrin's binaries...!!! they're gone 😱!!!
(act 3/4 vs act 6) they really don't wanna fight loop.... augh....
wish craft is pretty central to the forgotten island's culture, so I think they've probably seen the color red and become accustomed enough to it that they have specific words for it rather than just "a visceral shade". maybe they even have different words for different shades of red. the more saturated a red is the worse a wish is breaking
I'm a fan of the idea that siffrin had a younger sibling. he has a soft spot for children in canon, he would've loved a younger sibling to bits.
it would hurt so bad if he ever remembered or found out about it-- as the older sibling, they would've been responsible for their baby sibling! they should've been there to help them out with their homework, and have fun with them, and mess around with them, and... it feels like he got robbed! it feels like he robbed his baby sibling!
and since they left the island as a teen, and they're in their late 20s now-- it's highly probable that this baby sibling would already be an adult as well. they went through all of these huge life milestones and siffrin was there for none of them. he never got to watch them grow up, never got to grow up alongside them... and, even if they ever did get to meet again one day, that sibling probably wouldn't remember him... not because of universe memory stuff like sif, but because he simply wasn't there for his sibling when they needed him. depending on the age gap, they could've left home when their baby sibling was too young to remember them. and that just hurts.
hello isat fans. what are your thoughts on siffrin's family structure on the island. the sifblings.
