Sometimes, Merlin is incredibly busy. Arthur isn't bothered by it (he is). After all, he's the one assigning the tasks (whenever he's embarrassed.)

And hey, Arthur could sometimes need a break and isn't it convenient that barely anyone comes to Merlin's new chambers, which are always empty, because Merlin's always busy and no one would suspect Arthur here? And it smells nice, of leather and herbs (and a little like Merlin). And Arthur never sleeps better than here, on Merlin's bed with the nice and cozy bedsheets, between the candles and magic books.

the knights go to bed with peasant merlin and wake up to noble merlin and are like "??? wtf??" and merlin's answer is just "i came into some wealth" and refuses to elaborate further

leon and elyan believe this to be in regard to his father who was nobility, a dragonlord. gwaine believes this to be a reference to merlin sleeping with arthur. lancelot and percival think it's a mix of both.
