Been a little bit, has it?

Hello.

I apologize for the lack of "Look! AI!" kind of posts. I unfortunately have a life outside of the AI-Art-Thieves office, so I wasn't able to catch those seven-art idiots red handed.

....And it turns out that doing nothing did something.

It dwindled the number of active bots we have to deal with drastically.

Looks like moving their art thievery operations to DeviantArt didn't help them get the audience and attention they oh so craved.

At the moment, these are the bots that are currently active:

So far, I have found multiple ways to locate the source of the stolen work on DeviantArt:

  1. Throwing the bastardization into Google Lens and go from there, or...
  2. Use the tags to locate the piece:

You can do so by throwing in the tag right next to the "/tag/" of the url shown here:

Once you find the artist, you can alert them via their socials.

If you find the artist on tumblr, message them about this, but respectfully. I don't want a bunch of yahoos spamming shit in other peoples' message boxes.

As for the sevenart bots? Don't even give them your attention.

Don't reblog. Don't like. Don't even interact with them.

Let. Them. Starve.

Starving them will make their numbers decrease even further.

Focus your attention on figuring out what sevenart.ai actually is.

We can spread the word about this all we want, but nothing will ever be done until someone actively does something to stop the bots.

And unfortunately, I am but one person.

So don't just like and reblog this and hope that someone else will do the job. Actively help out by investigating the site and find a way to alert DeviantArt about this.

The battle isn't over until sevenart.ai is shut down.

Update: Looks like starving them is actually working.

The amount of bots that are active have now reached the single digits.

If my hunch is correct, all of the bots will become inactive during the month of December.

A.I. photos are flooding social media and contributing to an Internet where we can't believe what we see. Spotting A.I. 📷s is an important media literacy skill.

None of us have time to research every image we see. We just need people to notice BEFORE THEY LIKE OR SHARE that an image might be fake. If unsure, check it or don't share.

I've started drawing some comics explaining the basic of AI spot-checking and media literacy in the age of disinformation. Follow along here or on my Twitter.

It's Time To Investigate SevenArt.ai

sevenart.ai is a website that uses ai to generate images.

Except, that's not all it can do.

It can also overlay ai filters onto images to create the illusion that the algorithm created these images.

And its primary image source is Tumblr.

It scrapes through the site for recent images that are at least 10 days old and has some notes attached to it, as well as copying the tags to make the unsuspecting user think that the post was from a genuine user.

No image is safe. Art, photography, screenshots, you name it.

Initially I thought that these are bots that just repost images from their site as well as bastardizations of pictures across tumblr, until a user by the name of @nataliedecorsair discovered that these "bots" can also block users and restrict replies.

Not only that, but these bots do not procreate and multiply like most bots do. Or at least, they have.

The following are the list of bots that have been found on this very site. Brace yourself. It's gonna be a long one:

The oldest ones have been created in March, started scraping in June/July, and later additions to the family have been created in July.

So, I have come to the conclusion that these accounts might be run by a combination of bot and human. Cyborg, if you will.

But it still doesn't answer my main question:

Who is running the whole operation?

The site itself gave us zero answers to work with.

No copyright, no link to the engine where the site is being used on, except for the sign in thingy (which I did.)

I gave the site a fake email and a shitty password.

Turns out it doesn't function like most sites that ask for an email and password.

Didn't check the burner email, the password isn't fully dotted and available for the whole world to see, and, and this is the important thing...

My browser didn't detect that this was an email and password thingy.

And there was no log off feature.

This could mean two things.

Either we have a site that doesn't have a functioning email and password database, or that we have a bunch of gullible people throwing their email and password in for people to potentially steal.

I can't confirm or deny these facts, because, again, the site has little to work with.

The code? Generic as all hell.

Tried searching for more information about this site, like the server it's on, or who owned the site, or something. ANYTHING.

Multiple sites pulled me in different directions. One site said it originates in Iceland. Others say its in California or Canada.

Luckily, the server it used was the same. Its powered by Cloudflare.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do with any of this information.

If you have any further information about this site, let me know.

Until there is a clear answer, we need to keep doing what we are doing.

Spread the word and report about these cretins.

If they want attention, then they are gonna get the worst attention.

It's wonderful that this is getting more attention, but a lot has happened after I made this post:

  • Some of these bots have been taken down
  • All the bots have moved to DeviantArt
  • I experienced burnout after trying to report these guys.

So if you want to defeat sevenart.ai, alert everyone on DeviantArt.

Especially since sevenart is stealing results from DeviantArt's Dreamup AI. I don't care whether or not you are pro-ai or anti-ai, this site is stealing generations and claiming that their bare bones stable diffusion ai image generator can make those images.

...On top of creating an illusion of a "community".

That is dishonest marketing.

And since DeviantArt is doing nothing to protect both their old and new audience, it's all down to us.

Keep spreading the word about these shitbags.

not seven/arts but @/floatingskull is an ai account you may want to be aware of

From the looks of things, that account is tagging their works correctly and not stealing anyone else's work (well, the seven/arts way of doing that anyway) so I can't really do anything about it.

Only crime I can report is having way too many images that are similar to one another.

Guess that's the price to pay to being an ai artist on the internet. *shrugs*

My only advice is to just block them.

BEAUTIFUL PERSON AWARD! Once you are given this award you’re supposed to paste it in the asks of eight people who deserve it. If you break the chain nothing happens, but it's sweet to know someone thinks you’re beautiful inside and out! 🩵🩷🤍 (Ty for catching that art theives ur wonderful for that)

this is your periodic reminder that for all the artifacts and errors and "tells" one could possibly list, the only reliable way to actually determine if an image is ai generated is to investigate the source. it is becoming increasingly common for "fake classical paintings" to circulate around curative aesthetic blogs, and everyone should be using this as an opportunity to not only exercise their investigative skills but also appreciate art more in general. you're all checking out the artists you reblog, right? 🫣

so what are some signs to look for? let's use this very good example.

He's paying people to use ai. At that point if you're too lazy pay an actual artist?? Why pay someone to use ai for you when you can just use it yourself??

My duty is to arrest people that steal art and run it through ai to rob the hard work and profit of other artists.

So drama like this doesn't usually grab my attention.

......but what you just sent me is beyond pathetic.

Not for you, but for the person that even thought that making an "ai concept artist" job position a thing.

Why would you give all of this to a remote job that is not only an entry level job, but one where you all you have to do is type a description for the algorithm to generate a satisfactory result?

This looks and smell like a scam. It's predatory to those who are looking for easy work. I'm also going to bet that the job description is written with ChatGPT.

I can already sense the lawsuits.

If you are training in the arts of algorithmancy, don't take this job at all.

It's too good to be true.
