Happy Monday!! I just got out of class for the day and will be on the main for a while if anyone needs anything. We currently have an issue with our graphic that is keeping me from posting new skeletons, but it should be resolved soon! LADY and TRAMP are ready to be queued once they get graphics and I’m taking requests for any characters you’d like to see bumped to the top of the to-do list. If you don’t want to wait, you can still apply for characters without a skeleton by filling out the OC section of our application.
A reminder that this WEDNESDAY is our last acceptance day before the WINTER BALL EVENT, so get those apps in by then so you can join in the fun!!

Do the characters still have their powers or can be of a different species?

Characters with magic in-canon (such as Elsa, Rapunzel, etc) still have their powers! Though those with inherently dangerous powers (message us if you’re uncertain if your character fits into that category) and/or magic that can control other characters will find that once they arrive in Ahtohallan their abilities have either been significantly weakened or disappeared entirely! 
As for different species, I believe mermaids and faeries are currently are only other “species” and any other would have to be considered on a case by case basis. Don’t hesitate to send us a message and run by us any ideas you may have!

you’re the type who never knows when to give up. all your life you’ve gotten whatever you want. a renown hunter, you were considered a hero in your town. everyone either wanted to be you or be with you. the darkness is the first foe you can’t take on, but rather than be forced to admit it you’ve run away to ahtohallan where it cannot touch you. your poor village was left behind to fend for themselves and you feel no guilt. all you are focused on now is how to regain the adoration and praise you so desperately crave.

Absolutely! Our members tend to use a mix of gif icons no smaller than the one I’m using on this post in addition to gifs that are around 250x150. So long as a gif doesn’t fill up the entire width of a post, it should be good to go!

you’re late, you’re late, for what you think is a very important date — if you’re late to work again, the queen will surely have your head. you work hard at your job as her assistant, although you are late more often then not  — it’s not your fault, it’s that darn pocket watch! always slow by two days. regardless, when the queen decided she was going to the island naturally you had to go along, after all, without the cards to help she was going to need you. at least, you like to think so.

Anatole was told his power was a curse the first time smoke emanated from his fingertips. Others whispered his mother was a witch, or something like it, and that her gift had been soured in her child. He’d never cared to ask her about it- she was a figure of oppression, of limitation, who taught him to hide and fear the things he could do. But stifling his magic was like hiding a part of his body, and suffocating his powers was as painful and real as someone holding a hand over his nose and mouth as he grasped for air.
And burning his village to the ground when the others were out hunting felt good.
Anatole’s movements past childhood could be easily tracked by the path of ashes left in his wake. He delighted in the free use of his gift, reducing thousand year-old oaks to dust with a snap of his fingers, terrorizing the villages and settlements he found on his way, setting fields of wildflowers ablaze just because he could. People could tell him his gift was destruction- but didn’t they see without death there could be no life? If the old trees didn’t go up in flames, the new ones would have no space to grow. And for all the bravado and flair, he could still claim he had never used the fire to hurt anyone.  
It was one injudicious move, one asshole in a pub that just got under his skin a little too much. No one had ever taught him how to use his powers, only to hide them. One second of flared temper and his vision went red and all that got through was the heat of flames. And the sound of screams. He didn’t even stay to see how bad their burns were- he fled. And didn’t stop running until he’d left the forest behind.

❧ AFTER ARRIVAL

Now he knows the fire serves no purpose. The fire only brings pain and destruction and death. There was a time he thought he could redeem himself for that mistake so long ago, that he could harness his power to fight the impending darkness- but that was foolish. His gift, his curse, was only ruin. It could never bring good. The ship over was as close to torture as he’d ever endured before. He couldn’t put his finger on what was more revolting- the whining of his fellow passengers or the acid salt stink of the ocean. Anatole had never seen the ocean before.
On Ahtohallan he has continued to retreat into isolation. When forced, he earns his way by doing odd jobs around town, but he has no interest in making any connections with the other residents of the island. The loneliness doesn’t bother him- after all, who was better company than himself? It was out of grasping self-preservation he fled to Ahtohallan, one last remaining shred of a survival instinct. But there’s no difference between brooding in his hut or brooding here. He’ll do anything to keep his privacy- he can only hope that he’ll be left alone.
And that he’ll never have to light another fire.

  • THE SPRING SPRITE  — enemy she is everything you are not. if she is creation and life, you are destruction and death. naively optimistic, she once hoped to befriend you, but you ruined any chance of that. you find yourself irritated by every aspect of her — from the flowers she leaves her wake to her sunny disposition. 
  • HADES  — acquaintance  someone you see similarities to yourself in. he’s another bitter hothead who views the island more as a prison than a sanctuary. you’d never call him a friend, but he is surprisingly enjoyable to hang around. you don’t share his ambition though, and only really half-listen to his rants.
