Until DA4 comes out I'm just going to continue to headcanon The Box of Screaming in DA2 as the place where the Evanuris were actually locked away lol.

A lot of people never got this codex! :O  Here you go!

I received the box from a man I met in the Silent Plains. He spoke little and would not reveal his name. For reasons I shall not detail here, I had been kidnapped and left for dead in that gray, wind-blasted wasteland.
After days of walking, I was parched and close to death. I was about to dash my head on a rock to speed my passing when the man arrived. He possessed a waterskin containing ample water for a person traveling from our location to the to the Imperial Highway. From there, he said, I could find my way to Solas or Perivantium. He offered to give me the waterskin if I agreed to take three things from him: a glowing crystalline shard, a bronze sphere, and an iron-bound box with no hinges.
I asked the man if he wished to have these items delivered. He said that he merely wanted me to have them. It was an odd request, but I was too weak and too desperate to think much of it. And so I agreed. The man put the items into a leather sack, which he handed to me along with the water.
"What about you?" I asked. He said nothing, only pointed in the direction from which I had come. "There is nothing that way," I said. He merely smiled at me.
I found the Imperial Highway about a day later, and a caravan driver agreed to take me to Perivantium in exchange for the large glowing shard. In Perivantium, I bartered the bronze sphere for new clothes and room at the inn. That night I examined the iron-bound box and found no way to open it. I held it to my ear, and thought I heard slow, measured breathing coming from within. My mind was afire with curiosity, and I obtained from the innkeeper a large hammer, thinking to smash the thing open. The moment the hammer touched the box, it shrieked—the shrill sound pierced the depths of my soul.
I gave the box to the innkeeper in the morning and felt better for having rid myself of it.

Hello and welcome to BTV. We’re excited to announce the applications for a 24-36 artist 6x9″ fanzine celebrating our favorite and most despised egg, Solas. This artbook will be organized by @nim-lock, @mono-owl, and @pentakillies

The Theme “Beyond the Veil”, a deep dive into Solas’s character. Feel free to consider the events in ancient Arlathan that influenced the formation of the Veil, the many faces that Solas has had to put on, and/or your thoughts on #TheDreadWolfRises. There will be no overt ships in this zine. There will be no inquisitors, but their absence can be felt (for example, Solas in a space clearly meant for two). Side characters are allowed. We’re also looking for people interested in drawing concept art Solas along with game canon Solas!

In the spirit of the world-shattering effects of the Veil, we will be donating our proceeds to a charity against climate change (to be announced)! All participants will receive a physical copy of the zine & merchandise.

The Content We’re looking for 24-36 illustrators to fill 56 pages, one charm, two postcards, and a sticker sheet. The cover will be handled by J (@nim-lock)

Only the Best Solas Quotes

There are sooo many. Here are some of my faves. Some are deep as hell, some are pure salt & sass, some are as smooth as his shiny bald head.

  • No real god need prove himself. Anyone who tries is mad or lying.
  • I enjoy the frilly cakes!
  • We were all young once. Makes me giggle every time.
  • I am grim and fatalistic. Getting you into bed is merely an enjoyable side benefit.
  • I lay in dark and dreaming sleep while countless wars and ages passed. I woke still weak a year before I joined you.
  • The Inquisitor turns her hawk-like gaze to me, penetrating deep into my most secret desires. Only… Not. I care deeply for many things beyond the Fade. Just not you.
  • The healer has the bloodiest hands.
  • It’s comforting that whatever qualities I lack, you’ll invent for me, Varric.
  • I volunteered to help, Inquisitor. Rattle the bars if you like, but I chose to enter this cage.
  • Ah - because I am an apostate. I might flee before the Inquisition throws me in chains?
  • Ass.
  • We must mark the occasion of the Dalish remembering something correctly. Perhaps we should plant a tree.
  • Or pomposity…
  • Most people do [forget Fen’Harel]
  • I will try, in my own fumbling way, to try and learn from how you helped to seal the rift at Haven. Ah, wait. My memory misleads me. You were not there.
  • How small the pain of one man seems when weighed against the endless depths of memory, of feeling, of existence. That ocean carries everyone. And those of us who learn to see its currents move through life with fewer ripples.
  • Please speak up - I cannot hear you over your outfit.
  • Provided it tied you down first, one assumes.
  • And of course: ALL OF THE ENJOYABLE SIDE BENEFITS FLIRTS.

If I missed any good ones, add your own!

  • Shut. Up.
  • You should have seen me when I was younger. Hot-blooded and cocky, always ready to fight.
  • People can be trying, mankind most of all.
  • How small the pain of one man seems when weighed against the endless depths of memory, of feeling, of existence. That ocean carries everyone. And those of us who learn to see its currents move through life with their fewer ripples.
  • I believe the elven gods existed, as did the old gods of Tevinter. But I do not think any of them were gods, unless you expand the definition of the word to the point of absurdity. I appreciate the idea of your Maker, a god that does not need to prove his power. I wish more such gods felt the same.
  • The mind does marvelous things to protect itself.

A few more:

  • “Iron Bull, how do your people put on shirts?”
  • “Too few invested with authority possess the courage to alter their course.”
  • “Ah, yes. Winchiness. A point I had not considered.”
  •  “Now, as a petulant child, he will destroy the game board rather than admit defeat. Be ready for anything. He still believes himself a god, and gods do not fall gracefully.”
  • “You would think such understanding would stop me from making such terrible mistakes. You would be wrong.”
  • (During Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts)  “I do adore the heady blend of power, intrigue, danger, and sex that permeates these events.”
  • And “Hunt well!”
  • (In the Hissing Wastes) “Well. It doesn't want for sand.”
  • (Fallow Mire, I think) “We will want to launder our clothes later. Or burn them.”
  • “Nor will you, until you've seen ignorance snatch away all that you love.”
  • “We have both seen terrible things. We have watched death and destruction render that which we love unrecognizable.”
  • “Thank you. I’ve been on my own for so long. It’s difficult to get used to having the support of others.”
  • “The Alamarri crossed the Frostback Mountains to escape a beast they called The Shadow Goddess in their stories. I met the spirit that they fled. She walks the Fade along the Southern Tundra, weeping, lonely, and forgotten. Great Ferelden formed because a lonely spirit drove her prey away.”
  • “A solid form is both shackle and strength. It affects more than you imagine.”
  • “Fenedhis lasa.”
  • “What color is the sky, Sera?”
  • “Survive the first thirty heartbeats, and you'll have already won.”

Just curious if anyone else has attempted to see your companion’s faces during the scene where Cassandra speaks with Daniel during her companion mission.

I wasn’t really expecting their faces to change, as they were just off in the background, but used CT anyways to watch their expressions, and (if it was not just due to lighting,) I was surprised to see they did seem to be affected by Cassandra’s pain there. If it wasn’t just due to convenient timing, Varric even appears to close his eyes and Solas looks away when Cassandra unsheathes her sword.
