Nature’s Nobles’ screechers

   I am sitting by an open window, and it occurs to me that no animal is more aptly named than the ‘screech owl.’

   There’s a li’l guy out there who is UPSET about something and he is voicing it. Loudly.

   Tiny owl paintings. The second worked a lot better than the first; I got more contrast between the owl and its background. Also dark eyes were easier to get right than golden ones! I love the shape of wings; every wing from an ostrich down to a dragonfly is just spectacular.

   Hauntober day 17: Owl.  This painting was a gift, just a little piece 5 x 7 inches. I learned that artists who specialize in painting birds have a lot of patience - feathers are quite difficult! Probably something that I’d get accustomed to in time if I did a lot of it, but a real challenge nonetheless.

I rarely paint birds, but enjoyed working on these two as gifts for an ardent birdwatcher. I wish I could be as serene soaring amid the clouds in my life as that owl is.
