i like to think that candace took to lawrence as soon as she met him. her mom married this soft spoken british man after leaving (what i hc to be) candace's shitty bio dad and he's nice to her and loves her mom and shes like wow this is great!!! he says funny british slang on purpose just because it makes her laugh. she paints with him for hours while he does his color by number portraits. she starts calling him dad as soon as it occurs to her to do that. shes the opposite of the "you're not my real dad" trope
