Jackson’s dad used to coach the Hongkong national fencing team, he’s also a former fencer of the China national team, and achieved a gold medal of Asian Game in 1978.
His mom was a gymnastic world champion when she had became a representative for China in 1982. There’s an info saying she’s currently coaching Hongkong gymnastic team.
Jackson’s older brother is now living and working in Australia. He was expected to become an outstanding fencer but due to the lack of potential his dad put all the faith to his second son, or Jackson instead. Back then, when Jackson was only 10, he already passed the test to be a part of gymnastic team of Hongkong but his dad made up his mind by taking the son to a fencing competition. While observing the match, Jackson stated confidently that this is the sport of his life. In the next 7 years, after gaining so many medals and titles, he left everything behind and went straight to Korea to pursue his second dream.
According to C-Radio show, Jackson said his brother’s living and working in Australia, his dad has to go abroad all the time because of his job of being Hongkong national team’s coach. And so he felt really guilty leaving his mom home alone. He promised to skype and call her more in the future.
When GOT7 had debuted Jackson’s dad paid a visit to him in Korea and stayed there for 3 days. But because of Jackson’s busy schedule, they could only meet up and have a little chitchat for a short amount of time.
Furthermore, Jackson’s godfather not only used to manage models and artists in E-Squared Management International company in Beijing, also acquainted with Xiah Junsu. He even went to see Jackson in Korea when he was a trainee.
All of Jackson’s family members were willingly updating their SNS to call for support from people when GOT7 debuted. His godfather was perhaps the most active one in this since he’s a well-known in showbiz, the rest of family didn’t eagerly do it because they didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention. But that doesn’t mean they don’t follow GOT7’s steps. In fact his parents always look for the informations about the group through various fanpages and from the conversations with Jackson himself. They’re all proud of Jackson but they don’t feel the need of babbling or showing off about him in front of his fans.
