Ik people are arguing about the "better than Blitz" guy, but the little hop/fly that he does in order to twirl Stolas while dancing (despite the height difference) is really cute
btw, just putting it out there that my hope for the Helluva Boss endgame is Stolas abdicating his Royal title and privileges and going to live with Blitzø and working for IMP as their accountant.
Clearly, they have a lot of paperwork that they currently push onto one of their assassins (Full Moon) and Stolas has been established as a nerd who loves reading loads of boring paperwork (Oops).
It would also tie in nicely with the conversation they had as kids (The Circus), and make it serve as very cute if on-the-nose foreshadowing.
I really liked Queen Bee as a character she was so fun to watch and her dynamic with Tex was cute.
Minor nitpick….why is Stolitz a huge deal (Goetia seeing an imp) if this relationship is fine? Aren’t hellhounds seen as lower class than imps?
Do the rulers of hell get a free pass? Ozzie is also implied to be involved with Fizz who’s an imp. And I really like those two relationships! I think they’re cute. It’s just strange to me that they exist if the class divide is gonna be a *thing* with Stolitz
Just thought that was a little weird but I’m guessing the princes/princesses of hell just get a free pass to do whatever they want haha. Otherwise really fun ep!
The b-plot of “western energy” has been getting a lot of criticism, I was thinking about it and thought of something that would have immediately fixed the tonal whiplash from it.
Instead of it being an “annual shot” for hell-rabies (I forget what they called it) that’s hard to schedule, they should’ve had Loona exposed to something on the job that required the shot. Irl if you’re exposed to an animal that is a rabies carrier, you need to get a rabies shot immediately, because getting rabies is basically a death sentence.
If Loona had been bit by some kind of hell-creature and THEN needed the shot, it would have been a lot more urgent and upped the stakes for why Blitz needed to take her to the hospital. “Loona needs this shot because she was bit by X and could die” is a lot more intense then “Loona needs this shot in case she does field work cause it’s hard to schedule”
Others have pointed out that Blitz saw Striker with angelic weaponry trying to kill Stolas in a previous ep, so he should have known how dangerous the situation was. But if Loona’s life was in danger too he would 100000% prioritized his daughter, and it would have upped the stakes of the episode as a whole. Especially the back and forth cuts between the striker fight scene and the hospital
Just my thoughts about a minor change that would have kept the same b-plot, but would’ve increased the urgency to match with the intensity and urgency of the main plot of the episode
Okay so Helluva Boss has always been a bit contrived, but this episode has two really big moments I just can’t get past:
-Striker was able to just stroll into the restaurant and kidnap Stolas that easily?? He’s literally demon royalty
-The Loona plotline really served no purpose except to keep Blitz away from the Stolas rescue mission. I’m sure they wanted to keep him away to save a big moment for those two later in the season with more buildup, but the shot thing just felt super forced idk
All that said I loved this realization moment with Blitz:
And the emotion behind it. I think they are definitely slowly building to a big moment with Stolitz and saving it for a later episode. I’m sure it will be super angsty and great. This episode wasn’t my favorite but I think it’s setting up for some big moments later in the season I hope it pays off
Based on Stolas’s texts he is trying to end the book/sex deal and connect with Blitz romantically. Imo it would have been nice to see some of this in the show as conversations instead of having to pause and read into things, but I’m sure they are building toward them talking it out eventually?
Blitzo being protective of Moxxie is extremely important actually.
I love how protective he is of Moxxie. It's super sweet!!!
never try to take Moxxie from Millie
Moxxie’s face in the second image when he sees Millie coming to his rescue 😭 I love them 💖💜💙
Ok first I ship Stolitz, but I wasn’t surprised at all that Blitz fucked Chaz.
I’ve seen a lot of posts arguing he did it bc he suspected something was up with him but nothing addressing his super obvious crush/obsessive stalking of the M&Ms that he puts above pretty much everything…
He totally just wanted to fuck them by proxy by fucking their ex (and Chaz even said he’d show them what they liked in bed…)
I loved Helluva Boss season 2 episode 3 and I just wanted to talk about how I think it’s such a huge win for bisexual representation. I literally could not think of a single other piece of media where a character proudly announces they are bisexual…
…and then the episode ends with them “running off into the sunset” or just a big highlight moment on their heterosexual relationship like Exes and Oohs did:
This was just SO refreshing to see, as a lot of Bi’s in “straight” relationships are invalidated at some point (like what Moxxie’s dad was trying to do for most of the ep…). I’ve experienced this irl so this episode was really personal for me and I loved the ending 💖💜💙
Bonus:
I think one of the best things about this last episode of Helluva Boss is that it treats Moxxie's bisexuality as an actual orientation instead of a "gay-lite" that many shows in the past used that sexuality for. And said bisexuality is not called into question by the fact that he ended up married to a woman.
I’m soooo late to the party finally watched Exes and Oohs and all I have to say is Adam fucking crushed it with this episode. It was even more powerful after reading his interview in the fanzine about bisexuality.
The biphobia in the ep felt *too real* and I love that we get to have amazing bi representation from Moxxie, especially a bi person in a heterosexual relationship. And his relationship with Millie really shines through in this ep 😭 💖💜💙
