Virgil Finlay, The Man Who Mastered Time
“Danse Macabre”: Month of Fear 2015 Tyrell: What… what seems to be the problem? Batty: Death. Blade Runner is my favorite movie of all time, and I’ve had Roy and Pris on my mind all this month. This scene never takes place in the movie of course, but despite my over-literal tendencies, I think that makes it better somehow. I hope so. But I cannot post this piece without a few more of my favorite moments, not yet lost…. Batty: Fiery the angels fell. Deep thunder rolled around their shoulders… Tyrell: The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long Gaff: It’s too bad she won’t live! But then again, who does? Batty: Quite an experience to live in fear, isn’t it? That’s what it is to be a slave. Pris: So we’re stupid and we’ll die. Batty: I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time… like tears in rain… Time to die.
