Y'all know how your parents will tell you things when you're a kid and you just accept that as is because it's beyond your range of experience to even consider that there might be alternatives? Because as a kid I was pretty much told that grownups don't have friends, once you have a job and kids you are too busy having a job and kids, and having friends and spending time with them simply isn't something that you can do once you grow up.

Funny how there's always something you figured was the default setting normal thing to do, and then find out that it's happened to like 5% of people.

My parents have maintained friends from childhood. They have multiple circles of friends. They did lose contact with some of them while I was a kid, but as soon as social media became a thing, my parents picked up where they left off with their friends. It's lovely to see.
